LIFESKILLS ACTIVITY REPORT DECEMBER 2017
OBJECTIVE: To develop a sense of interpersonal skills among the students.
METHODOLOGY/ACTIVITY- Three activities were suggested for classes VI TO XI which were
conducted in the classroom to develop interpersonal skills among the students.
1. Each student wrote his /her name on a piece of paper and passed it on ensuring that no
student got a paper with his or her own name written on it. Their job was to draw a picture
and write a nice message for the person whose name they got. Next they exchanged their
cards; spoke about how it felt to do something kind for another person and also how it felt to
be the recipient of love and kindness.
2. LISTEN AND RECAP
SKILLS: Listening, respect, interpersonal skills, communication
Students were divided into pairs. Partner one drew a topic card from a prepared deck and
spoke about that topic while partner two listened without speaking. The listener focussed on
simply receiving their partner’s words—not letting their mind wander or think about how
they were going to respond. Then, without rebuttal, partner two recapitulated what partner
one said. Then they switched roles.
3. CARD NEGOTIATION
SKILLS: Negotiation, communication, interpersonal skills
Sometimes to get ahead in life, one has to know how to wheel and deal to get what one needs. When the cards one is dealt does not make up a complete deck, one need to go out into the world and negotiate with others to put the pieces together. The objective is for teams to trade and barter for pieces of cards to match up with the pieces they already have and ultimately end up with four complete playing cards.
These activities helped the students to become observant and develop a sense of belonging
towards each other. It was a great learning experience for them. The students felt happy to read
the nice comments written about them by their peers. The activities helped them in developing an
amicable relationship among them.
