EVALUATION OF SCHOOL BOARD OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES

The School Board will review its performance annually to ensure its properdischarge of responsibilities to the community. Evaluation will be based on apositive approach, which will indicate the strengths of the School Board and theareas that need improvement.

To help the school Board meet this goal, the following elements will be includedin the self-evaluation process:

    1. School Board members will be involved in the development of anevaluation instrument and procedure. The instrument will include Boardidentified measures that are chosen at the beginning of each school year

based on the division strategic plan.

    2. The School Board evaluation instrument will be completed by individualboard members on a confidential basis, and submitted to the SchoolBoard Chairman, or his/her designee, for compilation.

    3. The School Board will meet, with all members present, to review anddiscuss the composite results.

    4. Each conclusion will be supported by objective evidence.

    5. The evaluation process will provide the Superintendent an opportunity toprovide information.

    6. The timing for the evaluation will be similar to the timing of the evaluationof the Superintendent.

Upon final discussion of the results, the School Board will develop both shortand long-range goals and objectives to ensure continued proficiency in its areasof excellence, to strengthen weak areas, and to improve the efficiency of theBoard.
