Our Cross Country team led by Ms Nolan and Ms

Phillips has shown great commitment and an en-

thusiastic attitude while training for the upcoming area meet

at Fleury Park in Aurora. Regionals will take place on Wednes-

just one day a week would be great help. Or a

group of 4 could share the same duty so you are

only doing it once a month.

We are flexible.

Please review our Community Board located outside the office for events, programs, and registration forms for local sporting teams, clubs , and local community events.

Safety Week The first week of October is Safety Week and we have practiced school wide Fire Drills, Hold and Secure instruc-tions and Lockdown procedures as part of our Emergency Preparedness training.

Our students understand that keeping them safe is our first priority and that having a well prepared plan in place ensures we all stay calm and act in an orderly manner in the unlikely event that something unexpected

does happen.

To ensure the visibility and accessibility of staff members on supervision duty staff wear reflective vests or sashes and carry walkie talkies.

All visitors and volunteers are required to sign in at the office and wear a visitors’ badge when moving

through the school.

Volunteers/visitors who are interacting with students in the school building and/or on field trips require an up to date Vulnerable Sector Screening (police check). Once we have this on file you need to complete an An-

nual Offence Declaration form within a year of the date on the police check.

Our doors are locked after the general entry in the morning and remain locked until the end of the school day. (3:20 p.m.). There is a door buzzer for those who need access when the doors are locked.

Please note if you’re involved in an activity at the school, in the evening

(eg. Scouts, basketball etc.) the doors will be unlocked for 15 minutes prior to the start time and will remain unlocked for 15 minutes following the start time.

2016 2017 If Schomberg P.S. is going to have a yearbook this year, we need a parent volunteer. If you are interested please call the school 905 939 7711. Thank you again to the Cian family for all their hard work to produce a remarkable Schomberg Yearbook 2015 2016 which our students so appreciated!

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the hot lunch program. It only requires about one hour of your time every six weeks.

Halloween Safety at School

Please be reminded that the York Region District School Board’s Safe and Suppor-tive Schools Policy strictly prohibits weapons and replica weapons on school prop-erty. A distinction is not made according to how realistic the replica may appear. Therefore, all toy guns, knives etc. fall into this category and possession on school property can lead to a suspension which could be up to twenty days. The policy applies to all stu-dents, regardless of age. Please discuss this with your children and ensure that all such toys are left at home. Laser pointers are considered potentially dangerous and therefore fall into the same category. This reminder is especially important to note as Halloween approaches. As your chil-dren choose their costumes, please keep in mind that they are not allowed to bring any replica weapons as props for their costumes.

Protecting Instructional Time to Support Student Achievement

While we know that important appointments need to be scheduled during the school day,

often requiring students to be signed out of school during instructional time by parents, we

would like to request that, where possible, efforts be made to make such appointments at

times beyond the start and/or end times of school.

We appreciate your commitment to supporting strong attendance patterns at school for

your children. Please feel free to contact the school should you have any questions or con-

cerns.

a) Click on the School Cash Online button on our school’s website at http://schomberg.ps.yrdsb.ca/ and select the “Get Started Today” button.

b) Complete each of the three Registration Steps

*For Security Reasons your password, requires 8 characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and a number.

Step 2: Confirmation Email

A registration confirmation email will be automatically forwarded to you. Click on the link provided inside the email to confirm your email and School Cash Online account. The confirmation link will open the School Cash Online site prompting you to sign into your account. Use your email address and password just created with your account.

Step 3: Find Student NOTE: A STUDENT NUMBER IS REQUIRED This step will connect your children to your account.

a) Enter the School Board Name b) Enter the School Name c) Enter Your Child’s Student # and Last Name d) Select Continue e) On the next page confirm that you are related to the child, check in the

Agree box and select Continue f) Your child has been added to your account

Step 4: View Items or Add Another Student

If you have more children, select “Add Another Student” option and repeat the steps above. 5 children can be added to one parent account. If you do not wish to add additional children, select “View Items For Students” option. A listing of available items for purchase will be displayed.
