APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

CSU Stanislaus administers approximately 300 scholarships to incoming and continuing students, undergraduate and graduate students.

Eligibility for scholarships can be based on a variety of criteria such as academic merit, financial need, college major as well as community service.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CSU STANISLAUS SCHOLARSHIPS Applicant must be a fully matriculated

student and have a declared major (except for entering freshmen).

Full-time enrollment is required of all scholarships except unless otherwise noted in individual scholarship criteria

o Minimum 12 units for undergraduates and teacher credential students

o Minimum 8 units classified graduates in a graduate program

Minimum GPA of 3.00 is required unless otherwise noted within individual scholarship criteria.

APPLICATION PROCESS CSU Stanislaus uses the STARS

(Scholarship Tracking and Review System) online program to help students search and apply for scholarships.

The STARS program automatically filters the correct scholarships to students who meet the basic criteria of the individual award. Students can then review the information for each scholarship and submit their application for them.

The scholarships in the STARS system are separated by major, CSU System Wide, and Open to all majors.

Completing the scholarship application process: In addition to the STARS online

application, applicants may need to turn in additional documentation as follows:

Letters of Recommendation Must be submitted if required by the

individual scholarship you are applying for.

Letters from teachers/faculty members need to be from the school you are currently attending or last attended.

Recommendation letters may be scanned and uploaded to your online scholarship application or turned into the Financial Aid Office.

Academic Transcripts Incoming freshmen and community

college transfers must submit an unofficial academic transcript from the school they last attended.

Sending your academic transcript to the Enrollment Services Office as part of the admissions process WILL NOT satisfy the requirement for your scholarship application – you will need to send a separate transcript directly to the Financial Aid Office.

If you do not submit an academic transcript with your scholarship application (as a student new to Stanislaus) your scholarship application will be incomplete.

SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS Scholarship recipients are required to

maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in his/her course of study.

Currently enrolled CSU Stanislaus

students do not need to submit a transcript if you have attended longer than one semester. Re-entry students will need to submit transcripts from the last colleges attended.

For need-based scholarships: For scholarships listing financial need

as a part of the criteria, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2016-2017 by the priority deadline of March 2 in order to be considered for that scholarship.

Ineligibility for Federal and/or State aid does not necessarily discount eligibility for non-need-based scholarships.

After you complete the online application After the deadline date of 3-2-2016,

we will begin the review process for all CSU Stanislaus scholarships. We will begin sending e-mail award notifications to students in April and will continue through mid-summer.

You may log back into STARS Online™ to check the status of your scholarship applications. Award notifications will be sent to the email address you indicated in your application. Make sure to keep this address updated in STARS.
