Drive belt SystemSmoothly and quietly riding down the street- only listening to the sweet sound of the noise on the road. Only the advantages of the drive belt system can make this expe-rience come true. By applying the revolutionary carbon drive technology made and developed by the company Gates™ enables the drive belt to out play the chain. The superior technological advantages of low noises and zero maintenance of the belt are to die for. Extensive testing of the drive belt has shown no evidence of stretching which forces you to replace drive components and is commonly observed by using standard chains. Con-sequently the drive belt lasts much longer than standard chains and has an expected running performance of ap-proximately 20,000 km or 13,670 Miles. The patented Mud Ports™ shed even the worst types of debris and keep the drive belt optimal functional. The drive belt is as efficient as a chain. Besides, in the longer term he gives proof of his superior technology to shed all types of debris and wear, whereas chains loose efficiency. It is the only drive system that is completely lubricant-free. On top you can enjoy the freedom of riding your bike without any chain guard or ever having to roll up one’s trousers again. For putting the belt under pre-tension the Crocodile-clamping system has been developed and patented pending by Schindelhauer. Apart from the optimal functionality we focus just as much on a balanced aesthetic. That’s why all frames are equip-ped with the also patented pending SBP-Technology.

Aluminum frameIf a bike ought to be equipped with a drive belt, it must have a frame with a stiff tail providing a high strength. Aluminum is, as material for component design of stiff bi-cycle frames, ideally suited due to achieving big cross sec-tions at low weight. That’s why Schindelhauer Bikes has carefully chosen this non-ferrous-metal. 7005 aluminum of high quality is used to manufacture all frames. A maximum stiffness is achieved by T6-hot-age hardening every single frame. The Aero-tube set is triple butted and a fine com-promise between lightweight design and durability. After welding the tubes by using the TIG welding process, every single weld is polished. The so-called “smooth-welding” does not only make a good visual impression, but also alleviates the stress concentration and improves the fa-tigue strength of the frame. A Schindelhauer Bike will give you pleasure for a long time- that’s our main objective.The appearance is flawlessly due to the installed cable pulleys, the integrated headset and seat clamp all within the frame. The cable pulleys are installed in small tubes which are welded in the frame. As a result the installation of the pulleys is made simple and there will be no chatter. All Singlespeed bikes except for Victor are equipped with inner cable pulleys for circuit force. The forged dropout connects the patent pending SBP- Schindelhauer-Belt-Port as well as the Crocodile clamping system. Now the frame is ready to be fitted with the Gates Carbon Drive™ Belt.

Crocodile – the unstoppable clamping system. Gates™ belt has to be kept under tension which Schindelhauer’s patent pending Crocodile clamping system can easily fulfill. The axis can be moved infinitely varia-ble by easily twisting the tooth lock washer resulting in an exact adjustment of the belt prestressing. Our primary objective was to develop a system that is easy to hand-le. By using a tool made by Schindelhauer or a 17 open-jaw wrench the conical spring washer is twisted clock-wise. The gearing releases the axis backwards, resulting in the prestressing of the belt. The axis is fixed by using an Allen wrench. Singelspeed and Fixed-Gear bikes made by Schindelhauer are equipped with a Crocodile clamping system on both sides of the back wheel. All components used consist of nitro steel and ensure a protection against corrosion. Riding your bike for a hell of a long time in that manner would still see it operating flawlessly.

SBP – Schindelhauer Belt PortWe like the idea of the drive belt blending in with the back frame triangle. Unfortunately, the laws of physics prevent that option. Due to Schindelhauers patent pending SBP-System the opening is well hidden and changing your drive belt is easily being done. A fixed connection between seat and chain stay is achieved by applying Schindelhauers po-sitively spool piece in wave form which reflects the design of the drive belt. It can easily be removed and also reins-talled. By applying a continuous screw connecting all com-ponents, the original stiff state is restored and it looks like as nothing has ever been changed. No more an annoying quantity of diverse transmission or screw connection af-fecting your eyesight- just pure aesthetics of the invisible remains. If it involves a Schindelhauer Bike, this application goes visibly unnoticed. We are very proud of that.

Flip-Flop-hubTo make your decision easier to choose between Fixed-Gear and Singlespeed bike, we equipped Viktor, Siegfried and Sophie with a Flip-Flop-hub. Due to the second pulley you can switch anytime between freewheeling and enga-ging a gear. Our aim was to develop a stiff wheel which can stand up to tough every day use. First of all, we used a mounting width of 135 mm instead of the standard 120 mm for the Fixed-Gear-Bikes. In this way the spoke flanges moved slightly apart, resulting in a greater spoke support. Another step to achieve a stiff wheel was to apply a free-hub body which precisely fits a pulley- that’s all what we need. The wheel can be spoked symmetrically. Besides, we apply high-quality industrial bearings, the light alumi-num made insert freewheel and using high-strength Allen screws to locate the hub. The hub is from the technical point of view off the chain!

Alfine hub gearsLudwig and Lotte are equipped with a Shimano 8-speed gear hub. A king pin inclination of about 307% offers enough leeway even for undergoing extensive bike rides with climbs and tail wind passages. The pawls free free-wheel of the low maintenance hub gears are ultra-silent and suit the quiet drive belt perfectly. Engaging gears is done easily and precisely by using the Rapidfire-shifter.
