Habitat for Humanity InternationalHabitat for Humanity InternationalHabitat for Humanity International

Founded by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976, Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is an ecumenical, Christian, non-profit affordable housing provider. Habitat’s mission is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by building ―simple, decent, affordable‖ homes in partnership with people in need. The larg-est non-profit home builder in the United States, HFHI has constructed over 350,000 homes throughout the world, housing more than 1.75 million people.

Habitat for Humanity in South CountyHabitat for Humanity in South CountyHabitat for Humanity in South County

South County Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian organiza-tion and relies on financial support from businesses, churches, and individuals to operate. Unless otherwise specified, all donations received are dedicated to build-ing materials and construction related expenses.

Our goal is to help people who live in substandard housing or who cannot find affordable shelter achieve the dream of homeownership. We accomplish this by building new homes or renovating existing dwellings by making them energy effi-cient and affordable to own. Homeowners are selected on a basis that they have need for housing, demonstrate the ability to make timely mortgage payments while also falling within HUD income limits, and agree to contribute ―sweat eq-uity‖ hours towards construction of their home. All Habitat homes are sold with-out profit and mortgages are issued on a no-interest basis.

"The red crowned crane has a very special place in Japanese folklore as

a symbol of long life and happiness. It has for thousands of years been

portrayed in sculpture, crafts and especially painting. The charisma of

the crane is not surprising in view of its size, elegant form and clear

contrasting colors - white, black and red. The other reason for its special

place is that the cranes mate for life. The appearance of the crane and its

pair bonding behavior combine to produce a visual spectacle almost

unsurpassed in the natural world." ~Robert Bateman
