Echoes of God’s Presence in our Lives

The Scriptures and the doctrine speak of a deep relationship that God desires to

have with us. Looking at the images of “The Greatest Commandment”, “The Yoke”

that Christ calls us to carry, and the “Breath of the Spirit,” Fr. Rafael will speak

about God’s companionship in our lives and its profound impact on our lives and

ministries.

Very Rev. Rafael Partida is a priest for over 32 years; ordained for the Diocese of San Bernardino. He

completed his Theology studies at the American College Seminary in Leuven, Belgium. His ministries

have been mainly in parishes of the diocese. However, he was also the Spiritual Director at the American

College Seminary from 2006-2010. He is presently Episcopal Vicar for the Riverside Pastoral Region of

the Diocese and Pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Moreno Valley.

¡Catequesis Misionera, es lo de Hoy!

La Catequesis alienta una experiencia de discipulado. Si realmente la catequesis

“primerea” con el mensaje del Evangelio, la experiencia de fe dinamiza un proceso

de conversión que culmina en misionar. Desde el V Encuentro la Pastoral Hispana

favorece al proceso de una iglesia en salida, que, movida por el Espíritu Santo, sale

con otros a buscar esas periferias favoritas de Jesucristo: los últimos y olvidados por

la sociedad para invitarlos al banquete del Reino de Dios. Solamente con una catequesis

de discípulos misioneros, transmitiremos la fe a las siguientes generaciones.

genuine witnesses as catechists and Church leaders in our most secularized world.

Time and awareness of time is the essence of who we are, our attitudes towards time, use of time, longing for time, greed

and abuse of time, Jesus and the fullness of time. Hopefully our time apart together will increase our gratitude for time.

1.3 Faith Formation for Persons with Disabilities Andrea West

This workshop is designed to teach us how to journey with persons with special needs. We will discuss classroom

strategies and methods that work best for people with autism, ADHD, processing and behavioral limits, while supporting

the needs of the Catechist and classroom setting. We will discuss two models of Catechesis: SCD and Inclusion. The

course will benefit anyone who works with youth.

1.4 Dorothy Day as a Model for Catechists Very Rev. David Andel, J.V

Dorothy Day has been declared a Servant of God, the first step on the way to canonization. She had a troubled past until

she converted to Catholicism because she wanted to raise her daughter in the faith. Always having a soft spot in her heart

for the poor, Day founded The Catholic Worker in 1933, and she lived with and served the poor until her death in 1980.

This workshop will offer some reflections on how a ‘normal’ catechist can be a saintly teacher of the Catholic faith.

1.5 Mary's Yes, our Yes! Answering the call of God Elder Samaniego

From the annunciation to the crucifixion, to the resurrection, Mary's yes becomes our yes as we answer God's call and par-

ticipate in the proclamation of the Gospel, with Mary as our model.

Juxtaposing the image of a tree planted near streams of water, yielding its fruits in season, and the person of Samuel, this

talk aims to inspire lay ecclesial leaders to be fruitful in ministry by addressing and challenging current mindsets and

providing some key elements indispensable in an effective spiritual program.

1.7 Reverse Engineering Faith Thomas Jenkins

A backwards design approach to developing lasting faith in individuals. Catechists will learn how to start with “the end in

mind” to create clear expectations for their class. Catechists will also be introduced to a case study approach to faith for-

conllevan a quebrantamiento familiar, y cómo el primer y cuarto, mandamiento son afectados, adicionándole esos dos puntos de

los escritos de San Ignacio de Loyola, sobre los mandamientos. Todo con mira a la salud spiritual por lo tanto es integral.

Este curso cubrirá un repaso general de la estructura y visión del RICA, incluyendo los cuatro periodos, los pasos que celebran

los ritos litúrgicos y el discernimiento que se observa en cada etapa. Los que participen en este taller también tendrán la

oportunidad de reflexionar, hacer preguntas y conversar sobre diferentes situaciones pastorales. Este taller básico les ayudará a

formas prácticas para implementar las iniciativas en nuestras sesiones catequéticas y discerniremos las mejores maneras de

acompañar y servir a la juventud de nuestras comunidades.

As parish ministers, we dedicate ourselves to the study and teaching of God or Theology, but we can and must make use of Technology

to achieve our goals. Pope Francis said to the participants in the plenary assembly of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications

on September 21, 2013 that: “It is… important to know how to dialogue and, with discernment, to use modern technologies and social

networks in such a way as to reveal a presence that listens, converses and encourages. Allow yourselves, without fear, to be this

presence, expressing your Christian identity as you become citizens of this environment...” Let us follow his advice, AWAKE and

start by learning how to use PowerPoint and a bit more!

2.5 The Young Church of Today - Not Tomorrow! Chris Estrella

Working with youth can be both a holy blessing and a holy struggle. Modern culture and terminology are constantly changing. Often

times, the young people are given responsibilities in our church that are "below" the roles of the more experienced ministers. They are

"not ready", they "don't understand the faith/ministry enough", they "are not spiritual/ reverent/ respectful enough", and of course:

Youth are the "Future of the Church". Wrong. Youth need a seat at the table TODAY, and the key is Understanding. Chris will lead a

workshop where we discuss, sing, and pray on how to empower the Young Church within today's community.

The National directory of Catechesis states, "Family-centered catechetical programs are opportunities for parents to catechize their

children directly, for spouses to catechize each other and for children to catechize one another and their parents" (NDC #61.2). Passing

on the faith to our young folks so that they can be comfortable life long Catholics and active members of their parish community starts

by involving the whole family in the life of the church. Enrolling a child in a religious faith formation program is just the first step.

Being actively involved and assuming responsibility for what happens is the next immediate step. This workshop will engage learners

to think outside the box about how to bring parents actively into their family faith formation.

¿Está interesado en guiar a la gente hacia Jesucristo? ¿Por qué algunas personas son más eficaces que otros en esta área? Dios elige a

los F.E.O. s para que guíen a su pueblo. Como siervos del Señor, tenemos que ser Fieles a Dios, siempre Enseñables y Obsequiosos con

nuestro tiempo hacia Dios. No hacerlo significa que estaremos en peligro de guiar a otros erróneamente. En nuestras parroquias, un

problema grande es el de que muchas veces nos representamos a nosotros mismos en lugar de representar a Jesucristo. Si queremos

guiar al pueblo de Dios, tenemos que recordar a quién estamos representando. ¡Yo debo disminuir para que Él pueda aumentar!

Pope Francis calls the youth the “Now” of God in his most recent Apostolic Exhortation titled Christus Vivit (Christ is Alive), a

document addressed to young people and to the entire people of God which was published on April 2nd. Through the synodal

process and this exhortation, Pope Francis set in motion a historic and critically important chain of events that will have an

impact on how we teach, minister to, walk with and serve the young Church for generations to come. This session will unpack

the exhortation, explore practical ways we can incorporate the initiatives in our catechetical sessions and discuss how best to

serve the youth today and tomorrow.

3.4 Blessed are those who are F.A.T. for they will lead the people of God! Eddie Perez

Are you interested in leading people to Christ? Why are some people more effective in this area than others? God chooses the

F.A.T. to lead His people. As servants of The Lord, we need to be Faithful to God, Available to God, and always Teachable.

Failing to do so means we will be in danger of leading others astray. A great problem in our parishes is that oftentimes we

represent ourselves rather than Christ. If we want to lead the people of God, we need to remember Who we are representing.

I must decrease that He may increase!

3.5 Spirit and Ministry - From "Ibuprofen" to "I Be Praying!" Chris Estrella

Parish ministers like us live a crazy life! Most have a regular job, a family to take care of, AND a ministry (or two, or THREE)
