• Hubris: arrogant or excessive pride• Arete: excellence: Jason does not exhibit this in

conventional sense.• Ate: madness ( Jason’s temporary ate leads to

the destruction of everything he loved, including his reputation)

• Medea’s ate is shown through passion for Jason and caused her to murder innocent people, including her children.
