STEEPLE PHOTOS
If you made a donation to the Steeple Fund in the past few months and requested a photograph of it, the pictures have arrived. Please contact the office to make ar-rangements to pick up your copy.
We will not have Children’s Worship during the summer months. Worship bulletins tailored for children are availa-ble at the Welcome Center. Children’s Worship will resume August 11th.
Women on Mission will not meet during the month of July; however, we will have a mission project for the month. We’d like to encourage folks to continue to bring in the Crayola 24 count crayons and Crayola 12 count washable markers requested by the Fountain City Minis-try Center for their backpack ministry. The next Women on Mission meeting will be held on August 13th.
The Nominating Committee is hard at work looking for people to fill vari-ous Committee positions for the upcoming year. God has blessed us at Smithwood with a lot of talented people, and He wants us to share those talents with His church to further His Kingdom. If you are asked to serve, please prayerfully consider it and ask God’s guidance and will. There are several committees that do not have a term limit: Baptismal, Pre-School and Children's Ministry Teams, Counting and Offering, Decorating, and Food and Fellowship. If you are on one of these committees and wish to come off, please let a member of the Nominating Committee know. Nominating Committee members are Kenneth Haynes, Teresa Cooper, Bob Lay, Sheila Sharp and Charlotte Walton. In addition to our regular committee slots, we are in particular need of van drivers to drive our new van and nursery workers. A clean driving record is required to drive the van; nursery workers will need to have a background check. Please see a committee member if there is a particular area in which you wish to serve. Thank you.
In His Service, Kenneth R. Haynes Nominating Committee Chair
LIFE LINE HEALTH SCREENINGS…. Returning to Smithwood on Tuesday, August 20, 2019
Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at Smith-wood Baptist Church on 8/20/2019. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong pre-dictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and wom-en, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. There are three ways to register for this event and to re-ceive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call toll-free 1-888-653-6441 or visit http://lifelinescreening.com/communitycircle or text the word circle to 797979.
It’s time again for the Praise 96.3 Summer Series! Each month through Oc-tober, Praise 96.3 brings you a day of great music and lunch!!! Held the fourth Thursday of each month at North Knoxville Baptist Church, 217 W. Oldham Avenue, the day begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts from Krispy Kreme, followed by a morning of gospel music. During the lunch break, barbeque from Tony Gore’s Restaurant and Grill is served, followed by more music. The event concludes around 2:00 p.m. The cost for this is $3.00 and includes the breakfast, lunch, and music.
The next series will be held on July 25th and features the Sean Tabb Family, Smoky Mountain Beautiful, and the Biblical Times Theater Singers.
Enjoy Mighty Wurlitzer or-gan performances by Fred-die Brabson and special guests, K-Town Sound, a chorus of women affiliated with Sweet Adelines who sing 4 part a capella harmo-ny in the barbershop style. After the show, our Keenag-er group gathers to have lunch and continue the fel-lowship at Shoney’s on North Broadway. The van leaves Smithwood at 11:00 a.m.
