“Hugh Laurie isn’t just the star of one of television’s most popular shows - he’s also a lifelong blues fanatic and musician who burns up the frets on his rootsy major-label debut.” - Guitar Aficianado
“It’s a head-first plunge into the depths of New Orleans music, from Jelly Roll Morton to Dr John.” - The Observer
“Let Them Talk pays proper respect to the music inside the framework of a well-deserved love letter.” - NY Daily News

The differences between HUGH LAURIE and Dr. Gregory House, the emotionally tortured protagonist he plays in the smash Fox TV series House, couldn’t be more apparent. But there is one
striking similarity between the two: both are known for their propensity for strumming the guitar and tinkling the ivories. And the Hugh Laurie in the recording studio inhabits a real-life character
that requires no sense memory preparation or Method: Hugh Laurie, musician.
“Let Them Talk” is the first album to be recorded by Hugh Laurie. Produced by Joe Henry and recorded in Los Angeles and New Orleans, the album is a celebration of New Orleans blues, a
genre that drives Hugh’s musical raison d’être. Spiritually inspired by similar genre albums like Ry Cooder’s ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ and T-Bone Burnett’s ‘O’ Brother Where Art Thou’ soundtrack,
Hugh’s ‘Let Them Talk’ recordings bring together an extraordinary selection of heritage tracks, renowned musicians and vocal legends to champion this much neglected body of work.

“Brewer is the ideal modern Wagnerian soprano. She can unleash thrilling high notes powerful enough to penetrate clichés.” - Los Angeles Times
Featuring the UK School of Music Symphony OrchestraJohn Nardolillo, Conductor
Presented by Singletary Center for the ArtsFebruary 15, 2013 7:30pm
When, in 2007, BBC Music Magazine asked 20 critics to name the top 10 sopranos of the recorded era, Brewer not only made the list; she was one of the four alive and one of only three Americans on the list. Brewer combines her vibrant personality with an emotional honesty that distinguishes her performances in opera and concert. Brewer’s range, tone, power and vocal control have made
her a favorite of the stage as well as the recording studio.
CHRISTINE BREWER will join the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra in celebration of the 200th birthday of Richard Wagner. The program will feature some of the greatest
and most celebrated music of Wagner’s career.
