Kenya Water Project
Bringing clean water to women and childrenimpacted by HIV/AIDS in Kenya
Albina Mshila, 69, is a retired SOS foster mother to 21 children
She founded Villa 16 Star of Hope in August 2005
Villa 16 is located in Albina’s 3 bedroom home in Mwashuma in the Taita / Taveta County
Albina is caring for 23 children, 8 HIV &15 non HIV
Anna, the first HIV child adopted, is now 21 years old
In 2007, they were gifted a borehole / well
Without proper maintenance the solar pump broke down
The children dance and play barefoot in the dust
The soil at Villa 16 is very dry
Villa 16 buys water; delivery is expensive
They need a lot of water to wash the dishes
and their laundry…….
The boys use the laundry water to build a mud house
In 2011, the pump was brought to the surface
buy a new pump clean / disinfect the borehole
treat the water setup a maintenance contract
To revitalize the well, we need to…….
When the well is functioning, Villa16 will …….
grow vegetables and cook healthier meals sell surplus vegetables to generate income sell water to the village to generate income
Clean water equals happier children
