EtherificationO 0328 Scandium Trifluoromethanesulfonate as a Recyclable Catalyst for Efficient Meth-

oxymethylation of Alcohols. — Formaldehyde dimethylacetal (II) in the presence of Sc(OTf)3 as the catalyst is used for the efficient synthesis of mom-ethers from various primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols. The method is not applicable to the protection of phenols.
