FromthePrincipal:
The work our students have completed over the past few weeks is
phenomenal. It’s been fantasc watching them engage in their
learning to produce excellent work.
Welcome!
Welcome to the Finn and Lara Donnelly who join our school for a few
weeks while their parents are working in the area!
NAPLAN
I am always impressed by the effort our students put into everything
they do. Well done to our Year 3 and 5 students who tried their best
during NAPLAN last week. Results for these tests will be available
towards the end of term 3. Next year we will be trialling NAPLAN
Online before its official roll out in 2019. I will keep you updated on
how this progresses.
Cardboard Arcade
Our Senior Room showcased their cardboard arcade creaons to the
juniors and parents last week. The creavity and individuality shown
by the students was incredible. They all put in a tremendous amount
of effort using the Engineering Process to create their final product.
Check out their work further on in the newsle6er.
Regional Execuve Director Visit
Milton Butcher, our Regional Execuve Director, visited last week to
meet with me and discuss the progress of our school. He did a tour of
the school and commented on the amount of space and resources
we have for our students to ulise. I then had the opportunity to
discuss in detail the work the school is undertaking in ICT, wring and
data collecon and analysis. Mr Butcher will visit again later in the
year.

equipment on their police belts and showed them their car. Some were even lucky enough
to set off the siren!

Junior Room students have
been learning about the author,
Eric Carle. We have read ‘The
Tiny Seed’, ‘The Mixed Up
Chameleon’, ’Draw Me a Star’,
and ’A Home for Hermit Crab’.
During Art lessons with the
Seniors, we have been creating
spectacular artworks based on
these stories. Students have
been learning about different
mediums, lines, texture, using
mixed media, collage and
shapes.
During Maths, students have been
learning about measurement. During
week 1, they planted Giant Tee-pee
Beans. As they grow, students are
making observations about their
plant. They will be measuring its
height, the number of plants and the
number of leaves they have.
Students have also been learning
about the chance of an event
happening.
Creating spectacular boats and then moving
them by pushing and pulling them.
Last Friday the senior room hosted their own Arcade.
During Design and Technology in Term 1, students
planned and created their own arcade games inspired
by the Youtube video, Cain’s Arcade.
We loved sharing our games with our visitors and
reflecng on our creaons!!!
