Föreningen Ekonomerna, the Business Association at Stockholm University, is a non profit, politically impartial association placed under the Faculty of Social Science at Stockholm University. The Association was founded in 1965 and has, today, about 1800 members. We strive to increase the benefits for our students by raising questions about education, providing social activities and creating an inspiring place to meet built by dedication and the wish to make valuable contacts for the future.

The Association is made up by a number of committees, clubs and projects who with their different orientations and responsibilities offers a wide spectrum of activities that make Föreningen Ekonomerna a necessity for business students with style. Examples of what keeps us busy are networking, marketing, social events, stock trading, educational issues and international relations.We hang out in Smedjan, house 8C in Kräftriket. Here are all of our members most welcome to engage in student activities. Both in already existing committees and projects and by creating new ones and thereby increase the payback of their student life.

T he Spor t s Commit tee

The Sports Committee is the committee that unifies all sports interested around campus. We arrange both tournaments and events within a variety of different sports. We also organize sports nights where we watch games together, an annual ski trip to the Alps and a surf trip to Portugal. We are a committee with much joy where it's hard not to get engaged if you love sports. T he Event Commit tee

The Event Committee arranges events, for both active and passive members, in hopes to strengthen the organization's spirit and in order to extend our contacts with external parties. We create opportunities for students to engage themselves within a range of diverse projects. We believe that by doing so we enable students to improve their creative, innovate and structured side of themselves. Examples of events that are being hosted by The Event Committee is F.E.ST Featuring, which is the organizations collaboration with the night clubs in the city, 24SEVEN Fashion Show and sittningar. T he M arket ing Commit tee:

The Marketing Committee handles the organization's internal and external marketing. It involves everything from strategic marketing planning on how to best reach out to the public, to making movies, posters and other marketing materials. We host workshops and other activities with the purpose of marketing the organization. T he Educat ion Commit tee

The Education Committee represents all you students towards SBS and Stockholm university and because of that is the only of the committees you don't need to be a member of the Association to join. We work for your matters of the heart and at the same time find out first what happens on institution- and university levels. On top of that we organize a great number of education-related projects and events such as Excel- and GMAT courses, Speak-Up Week and thesis lectures. T he Social Commit tee

Programutskottet (PrU) is the association?s Social Committee. It was founded 41 years ago and is one of the oldest

committees in the association. The members are easily spotted in their white overalls with the logo ?PrU F.E.ST? on the

back. The main propose of PrU is everything regarding the association's internal social activities. These are such as Pubs,

sittningar and traditional events' like Ångbåten and Hjulmiddagen. Further more it is the committee with the most

secrets and tradition. If you have and question regarding the rules of a sittning or the lyrics to one of songs in the

songbook you know who to go to; PrU! So if you want to know more, go to the bar, order a beer and get to know us. We

Next ladies and gentlemen and variations thereupon, we have the INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE! By joining the

committee you get to be apart of and create all different kinds of project that have an international spin on them. So

T he Business Commit tee

The Business Committee functions as a link between Föreningen Ekonomerna's members and the business world in

order to increase students' employ-ability. Through vastly different types of projects and events, the Business Committee

provides good contacts between the organizations collaboration partners and sponsors. The Business Committee

actively works with finding new companies and sponsors to establish partnerships with. If you have any questions or

T he IT Commit tee

In order to join the IT committee you definitely do not need to be an expert on IT or even read anything IT related. The

committee is here to provide an opportunity to explore within the IT field and create contacts within different IT companies.

We also work with the organization's webpage. We host fun events such as the D.R.E.A.M FEST- LAN and whyIT, which is an

inspirational lecture where we emphasize on the career possibilities for business students within IT companies. The whyIT

lecture is hosted by us, together with our partners Spotify and Microsoft. If you feel like this is something that would interest

T H E SEN IOR BUDDY PROGRA M

The fall of 2015 is approaching and this semester's Senior Buddy Program will soon commence. From this day until six weeks from the program's start, you are a newbie. You will, along with your teammates, get the chance to win the glory of becoming the best buddy group. By the time of the program's end, we hope that you will have had lots of fun, found life-long friends and you will finally be able to call yourself an economist.

This year's theme will be all about Famous Movies. Think Harry Potter, Lords of the Ring, Avatars and so forth. All the movies you've loved, but which would you say was the best?

During this Senior Buddy Program you will all be assigned in eight groups of different movie themes. Each group will have four dedicated Buddies who will be your mentors and help you with all kinds of questions you might have and make sure you will receive all the information you need about this Senior Buddy Program. You will encounter countless of challenges and activities together with your team, all in order to establish the best buddy group of the semester. The awards will be given on our last dinner event, which will be a Gala Awards and there we will conclude the question of the semester; which movie will win the award?

Behind the rudder of this Senior Buddy Program stands two coordinators, friends for several years who have been giving their all in order for you to have the best time of your life the following six weeks. We are so excited to be in this position and to help us we have a project group of 3 and also 31 super-motivated Buddies who?s only job is to make these weeks of your life unforgettable. So join us on this amazing journey which promises many laughs, games and parties together!

As a new incoming business student you are automatically enrolled in the Senior Buddy Program, there is no need for registration. All you have to do is become a member of the Business Association Föreningen Ekonomerna at Stockholm University for only 80 sek. This membership will also give you student discounts and allow you to take part in all of the Business Association's activities throughout the whole semester.

This is an activity where the buddies will guide the exchange students around central Stockholm. We will provide you with a route with different attractions to visit, such as the castle and the old town. We will finish the

tour with a visit to a medieval pub in Old Town.

As our welcome activity we will all go together to Hellasgården, an outdoor area located by a lake where we will play Swedish traditional games like Kubb, use the Sauna, perhaps go swimming and enjoy a Swedish style picnic. This event will give you the chance to experience what Swedes do during summer!

This will be the first event combined with the international master and bachelor students. The different buddy groups will go on a tour around the campus to get to know where everything is located. After the tour, for those who want to, we will go

together to a bar for some drinks.

This event will be held together with Fadderiet which is the Swedish equivalent to the Senior Buddy Program. You will compete with your buddy group and you will also be paired up and compete against the Swedish students. After the pentathlon there will be a BBQ.

Each buddy group will dress up as their given theme suggests and together we will enjoy a traditional Swedish student dinner, also known as sittning. After the dinner there will be an after party where you will get the chance to show off all your awesome dance-moves.

The next event will be a pub-crawl together with PrU and Fadderiet where we are going to visit different student bars at the university area.

Stockholm is truly a city close to nature and you will be able to see this firsthand on this trip to Fjäderholmarna, the closest island of our beautiful archipelago. The boat

fee is 130 SEK and although there are some restaurants on the island, we recommend you all to bring something to eat. We will bring some Kubb and other

games for us to play and there is opportunity to swim for the brave ones.

Just a few days after the Lasergame comes another fun, point-giving tournament. This time it will be a Dodgeball tournament. The different buddy

groups will compete against one another and receive points. In this competition you will also get an opportunity to get in contact with the

The 23-hour cruise hosted together with Fadderiet serves as the super fun last event. The boat will take us to Turku/Åbo in Finland and on the boat we will enjoy a buffet together and heaps of fun activities including a treasure hunt. Included in the price is the dinner buffet and a bed in a cabin. Let's make this SBP's last event unforgettable!

The Movie Awards, unlike the previous dinner event, the ?finsittning? is a more formal dinner (think: Red Carpet!). This is where the awards are given, the best buddy group is announced and the competition ends. As it is our last dinner event and the Senior Buddy Program is coming to an end we hope that everybody can come and that everybody dresses to impress!

Every sittning starts with Porthos Visa, the other songs will vary from event to event, but You end Your shot of snaps with the song Gräv ur Tundran. At the end of this song it is important that You crush Your shot glass (don?t worry though, it is made out of plastic).

During the dessert the drink "punsch" will be carried into the hall. This is, however, not something that You receive for free as You have to sing and sway Your body to receive it. The song that You sing to get your punsch is simply called ?Punschen Kommer? (The Punsch is Coming). Every event is then ended by the song ?O gamla klang...? Once the sittning is over it is important to leave the table as soon as possible. You may then head for the bar, if You are in need of further refreshments.

A Sittning is a student dinner event full of traditions where the students dress up or comes in fancy dress depending on the theme. The dinner is usually a three course meal accompanied with beer/wine, snaps and punsch. There are rules to follow, songs to sing , competitions and Spex(performances) to enjoy. When the dinner is finished it is time to start the after party!

You will be guided through the night by your Toastmaster. Whenever he or she is speaking it is important that you pay attention.There is a 3-second rule which states that you have to be silent within exactly 3 seconds from when the Toastmaster is speaking, although 5 seconds if you are hitting it off with your dinner companion! There will be two breaks during the dinner and this is the only time you are allowed to leave the table. If You feel there is a need to liven up the party you can shout ?Åååå(ooohhh)..Tempo!? while hammering your hands against the table and the Toastmaster will stand up and proceed with perhaps another drinking song . You can use the same act for Bordsskål, which is to shout ?Åååå(ooohhh)...Bordsskål!? after which you toast with your table. A Spex is when a group of people perform, often by singing and dancing to entertain the audience. If You are planning to give a speech or perform a Spex it is the Toastmaster You need to speak with before the dinner starts to organize the happenings. Feel free to use your imagination!

RULES

The dress code varies from sittning to sittning. The tradition from most Swedish Universities is to wear an overall or formal wear depending on where you study. In Föreningen Ekonomerna today it is mostly PrU who wear them. All members of the association can buy one though! The idea is that you should dress up in costume for every event. The costume should be in accordance with the theme of the event and you should try to make yourself as noticeable as possible. During the last sittning you should come properly dressed, suits for the gentlemen and cocktail dresses for the ladies.

This membership is the one you need to be able to take part in all of the activities arranged by the Business Association, such as the SBP. The membership also entitles you to the mecenat card with many student discounts. You become a member by visiting the website foreningenekonomerna.se, choose membership, then Buy membership (Fall 2015). Follow the instructions and pay via credit card.

Exchange students often get offered housing through the university/Stockholms Studentbostäder(SSSB), but it is important to know that this requires that you are a member.
