ABOUT THE BEACONSNorthwest Christian currently rides a 12-game losing streak. Th e Beacons (2-16) have been unlucky this season, as eight of their 16 losses have been by two-runs or less. NCU is led at the plate by catcher Gabby Stover (.349 4 HR 10 RBI), shortstop Laynee Bevans (.333 1 HR 4 RBI), and outfi elder Chelsea Hannon (.319 1 HR 8 RBI), while the Beacons use just two pitchers – Kalyssa Koontz (0-9 3.77 ERA) and Jenna Royce (2-7 3.78 ERA).

ABOUT THE CAVALIERSTh e Cavaliers (9-11) have not played in two weeks, but come to Caldwell having won 4-of-5. Second-baseman Sam Genskay (.438 5 RBI) leads a team that is batting .320 on the season, with catcher Kyndell Andrews (.393 3 HR 18 RBI) and fi rst-baseman Laura Luther (.383 6 HR 21 RBI) having big sticks in the middle of the order. CU’s pitching staff includes Ashley Suter (3-4 3.34 ERA), Lacey Romo (3-3 3.89 ERA), and Jordyn Brown (3-3 5.00 ERA).

ABOUT THE YOTESTh e College of Idaho (18-4) is on pace for the best start in its program’s history. Th e Lady Yotes had their 12-game win streak snapped, but have won 13 of their last 14 games. Nikayla Skinner was named the CCC Pitcher and Player of the Week. She is in the top 10 in four dif-ferent NAIA statistical categories. C of I is 18th in the country averaging 6.2 RBI per game. Molly Mills leads Th e College of Idaho with a batting average of .531.

THE LAST TIME OUTTh e Eastern Oregon University soft ball team split a doubleheader against Dickinson State University at Th e College of Idaho. Th e Mountaineers played DSU, which is two spots out of the national top 25, on a neutral fi eld in the non-conference matchups. It was the fi rst meet-ings all-time between the schools. In Game 1, Lacey Price went 2-for-3 from the plate, hit-ting a triple. Alex Hillmick had a double. Th e Mountaineers scored the fi rst four runs of the game and led 4-0 aft er the fourth inning before taking the 4-1 win. Emily Anderson, Cassie Wendt and Sarah Jackson each drove in runs for EOU. Th e Mountaineers fi nished with seven hits and no errors. EOU left six runners on base through the fi rst three innings. DSU had three hits and three errors. Th e Hawks left six base runners stranded. In the second game, Dickinson State scored four runs in the second inning to pull away from Eastern early. Th e Mountaineers responded with a pair of runs in the third inning off an RBI from Wendt. She fi nished 2-of-4 in the game. Sydney Carpenter was 2-for-3 with two singles. Eastern Oregon had six hits, no errors, and left six runners on base, including three in the fi nal inning. Th e Hawks had 13 hits, no errors, and left fi ve runners stranded.
