Type of Scheme An open ended fund of fund scheme

    Investment Objective

The funds collected shall generally be invested consistent with the objective of thescheme in the following manner:

Instruments Indicative allocations Risk Profile (% of total assets)

    Maximum Minimum High/Medium/Low

Units of SBI GETS 100% 95% Medium to high

Reverse repo and /or CBLO 5% 0% Low to mediumand/or short-term fixeddeposits and/or Schemeswhich invest predominantlyin the money marketsecurities or Liquid Schemes*

The investment objective of the Scheme is to seek to provide returns that closely

correspond to returns provided by SBI Gold Exchange Traded Scheme (SBI GETS).

    Asset Allocation Pattern

Investment Strategy To achieve the investment objective, the scheme will predominantly invest in units of SBIGETS which is registered with SEBI and / or permitted by SEBI from time to time. Theinvestments could be made either directly with the underlying fund or through thesecondary market. The scheme will also invest in money market instruments. The investmentstrategy would largely be active in nature. The AMC shall endeavor that the returns of SBIGold Fund will replicate the returns generated by the underlying ETF.

The AMC shall endeavor that the returns of SBI Gold Fund will replicate the returnsgenerated by the underlying ETF and is not expected to deviate more than 2%, on anannualized basis net of recurring expenses in the Scheme. This deviation would mostly beon account of receipt of cash flows which currently takes 5 days as per current operationalprocedures.

The table shows below the impact that could happen on fund performance as a result of delay in receipt of money over previous six months ending on May 31, 2011.

    2 Day 3 Day 4 day 5 day 6 day 7 day

    Average 0.14% 0.22% 0.29% 0.36% 0.44% 0.52%

    Max 1.96% 2.94% 3.41% 3.07% 3.62% 3.87%

    Min -2.69% -2.90% -3.12% -3.19% -3.41% -3.38%

Above calculations are based on SBI GETS NAV. The assumption is that entire corpus isdelayed by the no. of days tabulated above. But in reality, since the daily subscriptionmay not be material to the total corpus of the fund the impact would not be material. Moreover subscriptions over periods of time would normally be expected to iron out thedeviations. The fund would endeavor to maintain the indicated asset allocation as mentionedabove. However there could be a variance in the asset allocation on account of receiptof cash flows, which on an average takes 5 business days to clear given the existingoperational procedure.

Risk Profile of the Scheme Mutual Fund Units involve investment risks including the possible loss of principal. Pleaseread the SID carefully for details on risk factors before investment. Scheme specific riskfactors are summarized below:A. SBI Gold Fund would be investing in the units of SBI GETS. Trading volumes, settlement

periods and transfer procedures may restrict the liquidity of the investments made

    Key Information Memorandum

by the underlying scheme of mutual funds wherein the Scheme has invested. As aresult, the time taken by the Mutual Fund for the redemption of units may besignificant in the event of a high number of redemption requests or a restructuring

of the scheme. In view of the above, the Trustee has a right in its sole discretion, tolimit redemptions under certain circumstances as described under the section titledRight to Limit Redemptions.

    B. Investments under the scheme may also be subject to the following risks:Market RiskThe Schemes NAV will react to the prices of gold. The investor could lose money overshort periods due to fluctuation in the Schemes NAV in response to factors such aseconomic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends ingold prices, market movements and over longer periods during market upturns.Additionally, the prices of gold may be affected by several factors such as global goldsupply and demand, investors expectations with respect to the rate of inflation, currencyexchange rates, interest rates, etc. Crises may motivate large-scale sales of gold, whichcould decrease the domestic price of gold.

Some of the key factors affecting gold prices are as follows:Asset Class RiskThe domestic price of gold may vary from time to time. Further, the returns from thetypes of securities in which a Scheme invests may underperform returns from the variousgeneral securities markets or different asset classes. Different types of securities tendto go through cycles of out-performance and under performance in comparison of thegeneral securities markets.Central banks saleCentral banks across the world hold a part of their reserves in gold. The quantum of theirsale in the market is one of the major determinants of gold prices. A higher supply thananticipated would lead to subdued gold prices and vice versa. Central banks buy gold toaugment their existing reserves and to diversify from other asset classes. This acts as asupport factor for gold prices.

Macro-economic factorsA weakening dollar, high inflation, the massive US trade deficits all act in favor of goldprices. The global trend of rising interest rates also had a positive impact on gold prices.Gold being regarded as a physical asset would lose its luster in a deflationary environmentas gold is used effectively as an inflation hedge.Seasonal demandSince the demand for Gold in India is closely tied to the production of jewellery piecestend to increase during the times of year when the demand for jewellery is the greatest, the demand for metals tends to be strong a few months ahead of these festive seasons, especially Dussera, Diwali, Akshaya Tritiya festival and summer wedding season in India.Christmas, Mothers Day, Valentines Day, are also major festive and shopping for Gold.Safe keeping of goldThe gold held by the Custodian of SBI GETS may be subject to loss, damage, theft or

restriction of access due to natural event or human actions. The Trustees may not haveadequate sources of recovery if its gold is lost, damaged, stolen or destroyed and recoverymay be limited, even in the event of fraud, to the market value of gold at the time thefraud is discovered. The custodian will maintain adequate insurance for its bullion andcustody business. The liability of the Custodian is limited under the agreement betweenthe AMC and the Custodian which establish the Mutual Funds custody arrangements, orthe custody agreements.Time lag in procurement/redemption of physical goldProcurement of gold bars may take up to 1 month in case of adverse shortage of goldbars. It may not be possible to sell gold bar intentionally and may delay redemptiondepending on the market conditions.

bullion. NAV of the gold ETF & NAV of the scheme will change with the change in theprices of underlying assets. The prices of gold may be affected by several factors such asdemand and supply of gold, change in political, economical environment and government

policy, inflation trends, currency exchange rates, interest rates, etc.Lack of Market LiquidityTrading in SBI GETS on the Exchange may be halted because of market conditions or forreasons that in the view of the market authorities or SEBI, trading in SBI GETS is notadvisable. In addition, trading in SBI GETS is subject to trading halts caused by extraordinarymarket volatility and pursuant to Stock Exchange(s) and SEBI circuit filter rules. Therecan be no assurance that the requirements of the market necessary to maintain thelisting of SBI GETS will continue to be met or will remain unchanged. SBI GETS may sufferliquidity risk from domestic as well as international market.Tracking Error Riska. Tracking error means the variance between daily returns of the underlying benchmark

(gold in this case) and the NAV of the scheme for any given period. NAV of theScheme is dependent on valuation of gold. Gold has to be valued as per the formulaprovided by SEBI in its circular no. SEBI/IMD/CIR No. 2/65348/06 dated April 21, 2006.NAV so computed may vary from the price of Gold in the domestic market.

    b. Factors such as the fees and expenses of the Scheme, cash balance, changes to theUnderlying assets and regulatory policies may affect AMCs ability to achieve closecorrelation with the Underlying assets of the scheme. The Schemes returns maytherefore deviate from those of its Underlying assets.

    c. Tracking error could be the result of a variety of factors including but not limited to:i. Delay in the purchase or sale of gold due to Illiquidity of gold,ii. Delay in realisation of sale proceeds, iii. Creating a lot size to buy the required amount of goldiv. The scheme may buy or sell the gold at different points of time during the

trading session at the then prevailing prices which may not correspond to itsclosing prices.

    v. The potential for trades to fail, which may result in the Scheme not havingacquired gold at a price necessary to track the benchmark price.vi. The holding of a cash position and accrued income prior to distribution of

income and payment of accrued expenses.vii. Disinvestments to meet redemptions, recurring expenses, dividend payouts etc.viii. Execution of large buy / sell ordersix. Transaction cost (including taxes and insurance premium) and recurring expensesx. Use of gold related derivative instruments, as and when allowed by regulationsxi. Rebalancing of the portfolio

    C. Debt & Money market securities investments under the scheme may also be subjectto the credit risk, Liquidity risk, Interest rate risk & Reinvestment risk.

Risk Control The AMC has necessary framework in place for risk mitigation at an enterprise level. TheRisk Management division is an independent division within the organization. Internallimits are defined and judiciously monitored. Risk indicators on various parameters arecomputed and are monitored on a regular basis. There is a Board level Committee, theRisk Management Committee of the Board, which enables a dedicated focus on riskfactors and the relevant risk mitigants. For the mitigation of the above mentioned risk-factors in underlying schemes, the Fund-Manager will follow an internal selection/allocation process approved by InvestmentCommittee and Risk Department. The Fund-Manager will be responsible for taking investment decisions, scheme selection, portfolio construction and timing of investment decisions within the approved framework. The process will help to ensure the monitoring of the following within underlying schemesand for Money-Market exposures, for risk control, the following may be noted:
