Connect?
Savvy Connect, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization focused on training and developing undergraduate students for both their professional careers and management of personal finances upon graduation. Our
organization focuses on the professional development of collegiate students with disadvantaged backgrounds throughout the course of their college career and not only during their sponsored internships. In addition to hands-on training and development, Savvy Connect provides interns with enrichment programs focused on personal finance, personal
branding (how a majority of people perceive an individual’s capabilities), and non-traditional community service projects. This combination of training and enrichment experiences prepare Savvy Connect interns for a successful career as an industry professional or entrepreneur.
Mission Our mission is to enable economically-disadvantaged college students with the training, hands-on experience, and networking necessary to thrive in the economic mainstream and succeed as a professional. As a Savvy Connect intern, students are given the opportunity to prove
themselves as a professional through internships and/or business case solutions. This experience coupled with the continuous training and guidance from Savvy Connect mentors and instructors give students the skillset and confidence necessary to become employees or entrepreneurs. Additionally, students are trained to manage their
individual brand and personal finances. Vision At Savvy Connect, we envision: • A college education program where all students are prepared and
trained to become the best professional they can be as a full-time employee or entrepreneur.
• A college and university accountability system that measures how schools are preparing all students for life after college graduation, and not just those that are successful.
• A true partnership with businesses, to help students of disadvantaged
socio-economic backgrounds gain professional experience while businesses receive affordable solutions for small projects and great entry level hires.
• A high school and college education system that integrates a personal finance course into it’s core curriculum.

Savvy Connect ThinkTANK
Savvy Connect ThinkTANK
The Savvy Connect ThinkTANK is a continuous training program that every Savvy Connect intern must attend to be
considered for business sponsorships. Every intern must attend a 10-week training course before going to any business
sponsor, and all interns must continue their training on a minimum bi-weekly basis with Savvy Connect. The training focuses
on technical, interpersonal, analytical, innovation, and communication skillsets. Business Sponsors have the opportunity to
add to training curriculum topics that they would like new hires to have upon accepting an entry level position.
On the first day of the Savvy Connect Institute, all students attend a coordinated community
service event in the local community. This day provides an opportunity for Savvy not only to
give back to the community, but also for networking amongst students and other
professionals who may not have met previously. The sponsor’s logo for this event will be
printed to the community service t-shirts provided to interns for that day.

Savvy Personal Branding Conference
The Savvy Personal Branding Conference is focused on personal branding, analyzing data, and delivering information
effectively. Our goal at the end of the institute is to have each student leave with a contribution to the community, an
executive summary of their personal brand which will express how they plan to make other people perceive them the
same way they perceive themselves along with increased confidence in their communication skills, and to have students
develop and deliver a business case under a strict deadline. The institute includes the following signature events which are
described in more detail below: Community Service Day, Overnight Case Competition, and Elevate Your Pitch!
Competition. The title sponsor will have its name associated with the Personal Branding Conference, and every breakfast,
lunch, and dinner except for the lunch hosted by the Overnight Case Competition Sponsor and the dinner hosted by the
Elevate Your Pitch! Competition sponsor.
During the conference, teams are put together to help analyze, research, and put together
a 10-minute business case presentation for sponsoring judges. Every personal branding
conference session encompasses a pertinent piece of the judging criteria. The sponsorship
for the competition will receive name recognition every time the competition is advertised
both orally and written, sponsor announces and gives the case competition awards, the
sponsor provides the problem/issue for the competition, and the sponsoring company will
receive the first invitation to sponsor the competition for the following annual conference.
This competition is focused on improving every Savvy Connect’s first impression presentation
to any type of audience. Upon check-in, each student is given 10-15 minutes to develop a 1-
minute elevator pitch which is then recorded. During the personal branding conference
sessions, students must develop their personal “elevator” pitch for different audiences. On
the last night of the conference, in an unsuspecting social environment crawling with judges,
students will be judged on number of contacts made and first impression score. The
sponsorship for the competition will receive name recognition every time the competition is
advertised both orally and written, sponsor announces and gives the Elevate Your Pitch
awards, the sponsor provides the judges the competition, and the sponsoring company will
receive the first invitation to sponsor the competition for the following annual conference.

We say why not! Savvy Connect Interns are not only
capable, but they are trained to be value-added resources
for their Business Sponsors. As economic conditions remain
unpredictable, it is important to give these students the skillset
to succeed in any type of economic environment to help
mitigate against further economic plights in disadvantaged
communities.
Most internships offered by other organizations are inflexible
and require a lot of administrative work on behalf of the
business. Not Savvy Connect internships. Savvy Connect
offers:
• (2) different types of internship tracks: Savvy Special
Assignment or Savvy Solution;
• Business Sponsor determined tenure of internships, which
can be as short as 8 weeks and as long as the student is in
school with renewals available upon agreement of the
student and business sponsor; and,
• Business Sponsor determines when intern is needed for
special assignment or solution.
Savvy Connect Interns
WHY
Savvy
Connect?
What is the difference between Savvy Special Assignment
and Savvy Solution?
Savvy Special Assignment is an internship track developed to
provide interns the opportunity to work with a company at
the Business Sponsor’s place of business for a specific tangible
deliverable. This tangible deliverable is the basis for the
intern’s presentation.
Savvy Solution is an internship track developed to provide
interns the opportunity to research, develop a solution, and
present that solution to the Business Sponsor who submitted a
business case.

We understand that all businesses are different and may need additional resources at different times of the year. Savvy Connect interns are a great solution for businesses who desire the following: - Completion of low priority projects capable of increasing productivity and/or
bottom line; - Companies who would like to work with a potential entry-level employee
before offering a full-time position; - Low-cost consultants capable of providing quality business plans, marketing
plans, operating plans, or any other plans necessary to help facility the growth of a business;
- Companies who would like an intern but do not have the structure in place; - Companies who have an internship program in place and would like Savvy
Connect to supplement the professional growth of their interns with disadvantaged backgrounds;
- Increased returns on human capital and diversity investments; - Tangible work products at the end of the intern’s tenure with the business
sponsor; and - Several other company specific reasons!
