What is Global Warming? Global warming is when the earth’s the
temperature rises. It happens when greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane) trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, which increases the temperature.
Cause of Global Warming The first cause of Global Warming is
aviation. Cars and other transportation give off
carbon dioxide Aviation causes 3.5 % of global
warming !!!
Cause of Global Warming The second cause of Global Warming is
deforestation. Deforestation is cutting the trees and
other plants. If trees are taken out of the earth; then
they will not be able to capture any carbon dioxide.
Hurricane Katrina At least 1,836 people died in the actual
hurricane and in the subsequent floods, making it the deadliest U.S. hurricane since 1928
Because of warm water in the Gulf Hurricane Katrina gained strength
Hurricane Katrina The storm surge caused substantial
beach erosion, in some cases completely devastating coastal areas
The storm caused oil spills from 44 facilities throughout southeastern Louisiana, which resulted in over 7 million U.S. gallons (26 million L) of oil being leaked.
What Happened After the Hurricane? Hundreds of
thousands of local residents were left unemployed.
What is Energy? The ability to do work or the ability to move an object
Energy is in everything. We use energy for everything we do, from making a jump shot to baking cookies to sending astronauts into space.
Fuels that can be easily made or "renewed." We can never use up renewable fuels. Types of renewable fuels are hydropower (water), solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass. . Fuels that cannot be easily made or "renewed." We can use up nonrenewable fuels. Oil, natural gas, and coal are nonrenewable fuels.
Non-Renewable energy Most of the gasoline used in our cars and
motorcycles and the diesel fuel used in our trucks are made from petroleum oil, a nonrenewable resource
We get most of our energy from nonrenewable energy sources, which include the fossil fuels — oil, natural gas, and coal.
We use renewable and nonrenewable energy sources to generate the electricity we need for our homes, businesses, schools, and factories.
