Where did they come from? (History)
The Savannah is a hybrid breed (which means it is the result of mating two different species).It came from the African Serval cat and a domestic cat.The name Savannah comes from the habitat of the Serval cat; the grasslands of Africa.

Originally bred in the 1980’s (what a new breed!)
The first person to breed them was a lady named Judee Frank– Judee was from Pennsylvania

All in all the Savannah is a pretty cool cat. The are very new to the domestic cat world, but their popularity is growing. They are good family pets and a good cat to start out with if a family has only had dogs in the past. Not only are they beautiful animals, but they are friendly and fun to be around!
