More than 150 engineers and construction-related professionals gathered at the annual Savannah E-Week Technical Training Conference to share knowledge on the theme of “Zero in on Energy” on February 22, 2012. The conference was hosted by the SAME Savannah Post and Georgia Tech-Savannah. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District Commander Col. Jeff Hall, who is also the SAME Savannah Post president, attended the conference and presented opening remarks. Breakout sessions, featuring subject expert keynote speakers, were held and included Army Net Zero initiatives, smart grids for the Department of Defense, sustainable building solutions, waste to energy technologies, and more. In addition, the luncheon guest speaker was MG Todd Semonite, Commander of the Corps of Engineers’ South Atlantic Division. The conference was another successful event and learning opportunity for everyone who attended.

was the keynote featured luncheon speaker at the

conference. MG Semonite’s presentation was “The

Public’s Engineer of Choice in the Southeast.

The SBA released the final rule regarding the size standard increases for industries in NAICS Sector 54 and one industry in Sector 81. The final rule is effective March 12, 2012.
