With more than 23 years of experience in the oil and gas industry (local and overseas) and together with the political party GOLKAR, Satya W. Yudha successfully secured a seat as a member in the House of Representatives in 2009 2014 for the East Java election district. Currently, he is a Member of Commission VII overseeing Energy, Mineral Resources, Environment, Research and Technology sectors and also member of the Budgeting Committee at the House of Representatives, The Republic of Indonesia. He was also Deputy for the Energy and Finance sector for the GOLKAR party fraction. He also sits as Deputy Secretary General of GOLKAR Party. Born in Native Kediri, Satya obtained his higher learning at The Tenth of November Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya and completed a degree in offshore engineering. His career then demanded further and more specialized education, which he pursued at Cranfield University School of Industrial and Manufacturing Science in Bedford, United Kingdom and completed a postgraduate degree (Master of Science) in Oil and Gas Project Quality Management. He was the Director of Federal Relations and Business Development for ARCO and British Petroleum (BP) in Washington DC, United States, and upon BPs acquisition of Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) he was appointed Director of International Affairs of BP Plc., stationed in London. His next appointment was as the Vice President of BP Indonesia which brought him home, though not for long as a couple of years after he received his next assignment as LNG Supply and Development Director in BP China, residing in Beijing. After China he was appointed Business Strategy Director of BP Vietnam, which was his last overseas position before he returned to Indonesia. Upon his return he was the BP Representative as Deputy Director for CBM Business Development at VICO Indonesia, which was his last professional take before he decided to embark upon a political journey for a career. Satya is a specialist on energy geopolitics and economics with a special focus on Indonesia, China and Vietnam. His value-added comes from an ability to combine energy market and industry knowledge with expertise on the geopolitics and economics on global and Asian energy. He specializes in work on energy security, energy subsidy, US Indonesia energy and strategic relations, national oil companies, climate change, and oil company country risk. He writes and speaks extensively on Indonesia and global energy issues to the energy industry, governments, research institutions, the media, various forums such as the ‘Asia Public Policy Forum Harvard Kennedy School and the University of Indonesia’, Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) convention, Indonesia Gas Association (IGA) conference, IndoCBM conference, Indonesian Focus Conference at Michigan State University, Indonesian Petroleum Engineers Association (IATMI) Inspiring talk and on many more occasions. Recently, along with Joko Widodo (Governor of Jakarta), Sharif Cicip Sutardjo (Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries), Yusril Ihza Mahendra (Formerly State Secretary Minister), Roy Suryo (Minister for Youth and Sports), Indonesian conglomerate Hary Tanoe Soedibjo, Satya received ‘The Right Man on The Right Place’ Award in the category of Committed Achievement by Lensa Indonesia. He was appointed as the Chairman of Indonesian Parliamentarian Delegation to the Parliament WTO Meeting in 2011. He also chairs a Green Economy Caucus in the House of Representatives. Satya is married to Diah Ambarsari and has two children (daughter: Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, who is currently taking her master degree at the University of Manchester, and son: Satya Hangga Yudha Widya Putra who is pursuing higher education at Michigan State University). He and his wife currently reside at Bintaro Jaya Jakarta, Indonesia.
