Identify when to refer hand, wrist and elbow injuries to a physician for further imaging and continued care. Describe the pathomechanics of the painful throwing arm, including the relevant history and examination to determine the source of the condition. Explain the considerations for cessation of throwing versus continuation of play, and when to refer for physician evaluation. Interpret data regarding successful return to play with and without surgical intervention for shoulder instability. Explain the Laterjet procedure for shoulder instability with glenoid bone loss and its clinical indications as well as expected outcomes. Recognize signs and symptoms of exertional rhabdomyolysis and describe medical follow-up with appropriate healthcare providers and professionals. Explain return-to-play protocol after exertional rhabdomyolysis. Describe the signs and symptoms of acute internal injuries of the torso, and outline the appropriate emergency care. Explain return-to-play considerations and referral sources for the athlete with a history of acute internal injury.
