8:00-8:30 a.m. OCULAR MANIFESTATIONS IN SYSTEMIC DISEASES: AN OVERVIEWLuis Lu, MD, FACS This course will acquaint Allied Ophthalmic Personnel with a concise overview of the frequently complex relationships between the eye and medicine.

8:30-9:00 a.m. PHARMACOKINETICS: THE ROUTE OF DRUG DELIVERY Luis Lu, MD, FACS This course will describe the basis of topical administration of ocular medications. It will explore the dynamics of the drops including, concentration, solubility, pH, tissue binding, and reflex tearing. Finally, it will discuss local and systemic administration of ocular medications, and new technologies of delivery.

9:00-9:50 a.m. CONTINUING THE LEGACY: THE CLINICAL PROCESS OF CORNEAL TRANSPLANTATIONSharlene Rupp, MPA, CEBTThis course will examine the process of corneal transplantation from the donor’s gift to the recipient’s sight. The focus will be on clinical evaluation and processes at Donor Network of Arizona’s Eye Bank and how they work with ocular transplant surgeons to restore sight to Arizonans.

10:05-10:55 a.m. KERATOCONUS, ECTASIA AND THEIR TREATMENT Robert Fintelmann, MD, FACS We will review the pathology, incidence of keratoconus, and corneal ectasia as well as their treatment with glasses, contact lenses, corneal ring segments, crosslinking, and transplants.

Images will be discussed with examples of how to describe findings from ultrasound biomicroscopy, B-Scan, and Standardized A-Scan.

1:15-2:05 p.m. TEARS IN, TEARS OUT: EPIPHORA AND TEAR DRAINAGE EVALUATIONSMisha Faustina MD, FACS A nuts and bolts review of lacrimal anatomy, a focused work-up of the tearing patient, a clinical evaluation guide for the exam room, and patient education pearls to aid in management of patients with epiphora will be presented.

2:20-3:10 p.m. LASERS IN OPHTHALMOLOGYMandi Conway, MD, FACS This course will introduce the basics of light detection by retina, how lasers were conceived and by whom, what the acronym LASER stands for, and what goes into creating a laser. Applications and uses of different lasers and safety principles for technical and professional individuals will also be discussed.

CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDSAll cancellations and requests for refunds must be received by IJCAHPO in writing. A processing fee of $75 is deducted from each cancelled registration to cover a portion of the costs IJCAHPO incurs. ATPO memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITSIJCAHPO and CA BRN continuing education credits have been approved for this meeting. Continuing education credits earned will be posted on your account at www.jcahpo.org approximately 4-6 weeks after the program for participants who complete evaluation forms.NOTE: Attendance is monitored for each hour of instruction.
