WelcomeDear Taekwondo friends

It is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you and your team to the MK UTA TKD International Poomsae Championships in Milton Keynes on 11th May 2013.The Competition will be held under the auspices of the United Taekwondo Association (UTA) with full support from British Taekwondo (BT).

The Milton Keynes Championship has been growing, with an increasing number of participants from different countries each year. This year we are privileged to be the selection competition for the British Team competing at the World Championships 2013, making this event one of the best poomsae competitions in the UK. As always, we will be looking to invite the top WTF qualified International Poomsae Judges from the UK and overseas and we will be using the Adidas electronic scoring system. We have already had interest from teams across Europe who hope to take part again this year.

We anticipate a record number of entries this year, so we recommend you, as soon as possible, get your applications in via the online registration system www.tpss.nl. Please note we have a maximum of 250 players.

Conditions of Participation

All UK competitors must hold a valid BT licence and insurance. Participants from overseas must have valid insurance as well as a membership card or a licence issued by their National Federation. All contestants/clubs must have their own insurance as neither MK UTA nor any of its representatives will be responsible for any injury incurred as a result of participation in this event.All competitors MUST bring the required documentation to the competition for inspection.

ResultsThe contestants agree that the announcement of the results (with the names of the athletes) may be reported on the internet as well as in printed media.

A - Class Division (Dan / Poom Grades)

Competitors must be minimum 1st Dan/Poom grade & Kukkiwon holder.

Cut-Off System will be used

1st Round: If there are 20 and over competitors in a division then the competition will start in this round. Two assigned compulsory poomsae will be required to be performed with a one minute rest period in between.

2nd Round: The top 50% of the competitors with the highest scores from the 1st round will qualify for this 2nd round (including competitors with equal scores). Two assigned compulsory poomsae will be required to be performed with a one minute rest period in between.

Final Round: The top 8 competitors (with the highest scores) from the 2nd round will qualify for this round. Two assigned compulsory poomsae will be required to be performed with a one minute rest period in between.

Divisions may start in the final if there are 8 entrants or less. 9 entrants or more will start in the 2nd round round.

Freestyle Poomsae is the performance based on Taekwondo techniques with composition of music and choreography.

Composition of Poomsae (guide line) a) Yeon-mu line shall be the choice of the contestant.

b) Number of Poom: Each performance shall be composite of 20 to 24 poom( Composition of 1 poom shall be no more than 5 motions ).

c) Technique: Each performance shall be composite of 60% foot techniques and 40% hand techniques.

d) Music & Choreography shall be the choice of the contestant.(The participant must supply their own music on a CD – with their name clearlylabelled – this should be handed in to the organiser before 10am).

FURTHER INFORMATION

Awards: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place medals shall be awarded in each category.There shall also be 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th Place overall team trophies based on number of medals won by each Team: 5pts Gold, 3pts Silver, 1pt Bronze

Dress: • Competitors may only compete wearing full WTF uniform. • Jewellery is not permitted under any circunstances. • Taekwondo shoes are not to be worn in the competition ring. • Females must wear a visible white T-shirt under their dobok

Hall Rules: Only competitors and their coaches shall be admitted to the contest areas.

Judges/ Referees/ Officials:Invitations shall be made by the MK UTA TKD International Poomsae Championships Committee to all judges who have passed the BT Poomsae Judges Course or similar coaching course of a WTF affiliated body.

Please contact us if you would be interested in judging at the event.

All judges who participate will receive a free lunch and refreshments.

It is our request that all judges dress in appropriate attire (shirt and tie etc.) in accordance to WTF / UTA regulations.

The organisers shall try to ensure that regular breaks and rotation of judges is provided for all judges and referees.

Protest:Only the official head coach is allowed to protest to the Competition Director. This must be made within 10 minutes of the end of the contest. A protest fee of £75 will be payable immediately to the competition board. This will be refunded if the protest is upheld.

Liability: All competitors are considered to participate at their own risk. Neither the organisers,the UTA nor the BTCB shall accept responsibility for any damage, injuries or loss sustained or incurred.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RECORDING AT EVENTS POLICY:In the interests of Child Protection the BTCB requires ANY person (relative, friend, coach or other official) wishing to engage in photography or video recording (including the use of mobile phones as recording equipment) to register their intent using the Photography Registration form provided with this application. The Photography Registration form must be completed and then submitted to the event organiser on the day of the competition.Many coaches wish to use video facilities at events in order to provide feedback for their students. As last year the venue will be Cranfield University. The campus lies about 10 minutes from the M1 motorway, the UK’s main north/south artery, and has rail and road access to most major airports.Situated mid-way between Oxford and Cambridge, it is close to thriving Milton Keynes, a new town with one of the largest covered shopping centres in Europe, and the historic riverside town of Bedford. Both have coach and train stations.

Take the M1 north to junction 13. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit signposted A507 in the direction of Bedford. At the second roundabout, take the second exit signposted to Cranfield, Hulcote and Salford. Continue along this road to Salford and turn right at T-junction, signposted Cranfield. Follow this road to the end and go straight across the first roundabout, right at the second, then left at the third. At the mini-roundabout (Petrol Station on your left) go straight over and the entrance to the University is first right.

From Birmingham and the NorthM1 south to junction 14. Take A509 in direction of Wellingborough, then immediately first right, proceed through Moulsoe, then turn left following signposts.

From Bedford and the EastA428-A422 west to Astwood (7m), then left following signposts. Or A421 south-west through Kempston then right through Wootton (5m) following signposts.

BRITISH TAEKWONDO CONTROL BOARD

PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEO RECORDINGREGISTRATION FORM

In the interest of Child Protection the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) requires that any person wishing to engage in photography or videoing at any event must register their intent with the Event Organiser.

Two sections of the form require completion. Section 1 must be completed by ALL applicants. If the applicant is a parent/guardian/relative of a student competing then section 2 must also be completed, section 3 if it is an instructor/coach/representative of a BTCB club and section 4 is for all other representatives/officials.

This form will be retained by the Event Organiser for inspection by a BTCB Official when necessary.

Guidelines

• NO video filming, photography or mobile phones are to be used in any changing rooms AT ANY TIME. • If any player/adult complains or expresses concern you must respect their rights and stop.
