GALILEO Masters 2006
Non-discriminative on-board unit (OBU) for electronic toll collection, together with algorithms for identification of toll laps passed. Being an integration of GNSS, GSM and DSRC technologies, the unit complies with EC/2004/52 and CEN 278 standards and E9 Group recommendation as well. The unit can be easily installed and can operate independently of on-board power supply. Highly reliable and fault-tolerant FROG (Fuzzy-probabilistic resolution of Routes Or Gantries) system recognizing passing through toll laps is implemented in the unit. The unit can be installed on the windscreen of a truck in a few minutes. It can operate for as long as 48 hours without power supply, or it can be plugged to the vehicle power socket, e.g. using the cigarette lighter connector. The unit has been successfully tested in the road infrastructure intended for performance-based toll collection in the Czech Republic this year. Toll laps passed were recognized and toll data collected were transferred to the billing centre with reliability higher than 99%
