Space Industry In Canada An Understanding of Trends and Opportunities With Special Reference to Nano Satellite Industry 1 Contact me - http://tinyurl.com/9o6d43u

description

In last 10 years investment towards developing cost effective and efficient Nano Satellites has grown exponentially. Earlier, space related activities and initiatives were either a concern of the government, research institutes, universities funded by government or few strong private companies. But now Nano Satellites have become a point of interest for almost all the industry players. This is mainly because of the capability associated with the Nano Satellites to offer cost effective utilities to businesses (Communication Services), Government (Defence and Security and Earth Observation) and Research Institutes (Space Science and other observations) World Satellite industry has grown by more than 100% in last 10 years and is expected to grow exponentially in the near future. The wave of learning and development is so strong that Canadian companies are investing heavily in research and development activities for Nano Satellite and related technologies. The evidence can be seen from the workshop organized by Canada Space Agency in April 2010, where more than 180 participants were invited from the industries in Canada, USA and Europe. According to a survey conducted by the organizers of the event, about 42% of the participants were interested about Nano Satellites and related technology information. The findings mentioned in the report reveal that more than 66% companies, who are also members of Canadian Space Agency, are involved in developing and enhancing their capabilities to use Nano Satellites for communication and earth observation purposes. The intention of the Canadian government is also very clear which indicates that Canadian Telecom industry will soon see lesser restriction for foreign investors to collaborate with Telecom companies operating in Canada. All these evidences clearly states that the biggest use of Nano Satellites by the private investors will be done for tapping market opportunities in the Telecom Industry specifically. The report has highlighted some interesting insights about the global space industry and has mentioned some important facts about Canadian initiatives towards understanding Nano satellites and related technologies for solving future challenges.

Space Industry is highly influenced by 9 Nations and few countries in Europe. USA is the leader in the research and innovations while Canada holds the 4th position. (Futron Space Competitive Index)

Nano Satellite manufacturing will see a growth in the near future with reduced

costs  Growth in Communication and Broadcasting industry around the world would

be the main driver of demand for Nano Satellites and related technologies  Developing countries like India and China are likely to grab more market share

in the space industry

Private investment towards research and development on Nano Satellites is rapidly increasing in Canada

An estimated 1,185 satellites will be built and launched for the period 2009-

2018, an increase of about 50% compared to the previous decade (1999-2008)
