A changing perspective
From redevelopping former industrial
areas towards city waterfronts
To a new balance between
industrial areas and
urban living environments
Assignment:
How can industries and housing areas
exist side by side and make up
an attractive urban environment?
![Page 6: Saskia van Walwijk SISCo 24 Nov 2011 Schiedam](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051411/547a3db7b37959892b8b4943/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Approach: sustainable restructuring
Decreasing environmental drawback of industries
Upgrading the attraction of the area:
buildings, public space and land use
Keeping distance between industries and
housing areas by ‘zoning’
Provide opportunities for future economic growth
Intensification in land use
