SLOVAKIA WITHOUT POLITICIANS

Christmas pensions only for the poorest pensioners, a unified 20

% VAT rate, fewer offices and state chalets – these changes could direct hundreds of millions of euros to the state coffers, according to several addressed analysts. Demands

of ministries exceed the means of the state budget. Two weeks ago the sum they required stood at EUR 2.5 billion but for now they slashed it to EUR 1.6 billion. Experts, however, prefer spending cuts, cancellation or merger of offices and the

sale of superfluous property. “Their adoption would not have a significant impact on the economy or the consumption of households,” Radovan Durana of the INESS institute elaborated.

Slovakia would look completely different if it was governed not by politicians but by experts.
