In 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt took them on a picnic in the scenic Hudson Valley and served the great American treat of hot dogs. “Mr. Stamm really brings Roosevelt to life,” notes park ranger Joe Craig. “Franklin Roosevelt played a vital role as Governor of New York and President of the United States, in preserving Saratoga Bat-tlefield.” The event is presented by the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield, and is free of charge to the public at the Battle-field Visitor Center.
