Brent Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather

has been warning for years that the closure

of services at Central Middlesex wouldmean the closure of the A&E. Now she is

being proved right.

Many local residents are asking why localhealth bosses spent 80 million doing upCentral Middlesex Hospital, only to take awaymany of its key services, leaving many inStonebridge and Harlesden having to travel toNorthwick Park.

Local MP Sarah Teather said: The situationwe are now in is the inevitable result ofsuccessive decisions by Brent health bossesover the last 10 years. I warned about this

years ago and was accused by Labourpoliticians of scaremongering."

"All along I have been given promises thatthe A&E at Central Middlesex would notclose. Now despite these assurances manyof my constituents face just that - the closureof their local A&E."

The 80 million of taxpayers money that

went into Central Middlesex now looks

set to go to waste as the heart is torn out

of the hospital.

The plans were initiated by former LabourHealth Minister Lord Darzis 2007 reportHealthcare for London.

Sarah commented: Yet again, Labourpoliticians have let down Brent residents

and wasted taxpayers money.Thehospital has received millions of pounds ofinvestment and yet this money is beingallowed to go to waste. Local residents needhigh quality health services, not empty, shinybuildings.
