What did Sarah think of the sheep? They made her smile. She sank her fingers into their thick, coarse wool, talked and ran with them and sang to them. She was sad when the lamb died.

In chapter 5, how does Sarah describes Maine and the dunes? In Maine there are rock cliffs that rise up at the edge of the sea and hills covered with pine and spruce trees, green with needles. Sarah and her brother found their own dune. It was soft with sparkling bits of mica and they would slide down it into the water.
