A synchronized clock system provides the exact accurate time to all clocks in the system. The synchronized clock system typically consists of a Master Clock and multiple Secondary Clocks, also known as Slave Clocks. The Master Clock communicates with all the Secondary Clocks in the system to provide them the accurate time.

2-Wire System Description• Starts with the SMA Series Master Clock sending data to a Converter Box

• Converter Box acts as both a power supply and an amplifier of the data signal so it can send both the 24VDC and the data on the same pair of wires to the secondary clocks in the field

Converter Box Calculator• One converter box can power many secondary clocks, however, this will be determined by the type

and size of the clock – analog or digital, the wire gauge (thickness) used for installation, and the distance between the converter box and the last clock in the run.

• In order to assist the installer in calculating the amount of converter boxes for a project, Sapling has created a Converter Box Calculator. This calculator is an Excel file and by filling in all the necessary information, the installer will be able to determine how many converter boxes will be needed for the project.

• A Digital clock can interface with an Elapsed Timer Control Panel accessory. The Elapsed Timer allows teachers to trigger a count up or down on the digital clock
