SAPA Treasurer Jim Miller [email protected] Maintain organization's financial records within generally accepted standards of accounting principles and provide appropriate data to our accounting firm on a monthly basis. Provide timely, accurate and truthful financial status reports and information to members of the board and the general membership. Prepare financial reports annually to the Internal Revenue Service as required for not for profit organizations. Make financial information available to the general membership when requested. SAPA Active Duty Director (two nominations, vote for one) A. Adhana McCarthy [email protected] It is a great honor to have the opportunity to serve SAPA for another year. I have learned well from my first year on the board and will continue to work on our strategic vision to ensure that we honor our past identity and move forward towards a bright future. SAPA can serve all of its constituents if we understand the needs of each cohort and provide something unique for them. As the SAPA Active Duty Director, I will work to recruit more active duty leaders to participate in the SAPA Refresher Course to ensure that the conference will grow. I will support the active duty breakout session and add dynamic networking and learning opportunities throughout the year. I respectfully request your vote for the position of Active Duty Director. Adhana McCarthy B. Sharon Rosser [email protected] As a leader and physician assistant, I am excited for the opportunity to represent active duty physician assistants on the Board of Directors for the Society of Army Physician Assistants (SAPA). I am your candidate to ensure your voice, the active duty society members, are heard while working as a team to reach the society’s goals: to provide a forum for discussion, representation with the AAPA, and to provide high quality, low cost CME for members and our profession. According to an article by Erik Jokinen on causevox.com (Jan 2013), the seven traits of ideal board members are passion, experience, time, professional skills, attentiveness, toughness and collegiality. I have honed my professional skills and experience over the last 17 years as an active duty PA and 28 years in the military. My passion and dedication to selfless service ensure that I will represent your best interests in order to shape what is best for the whole. Lastly, I enjoy tough issues while remaining respectful of others and truly aim to expand the active duty participation in SAPA. Thank you Sharon Rosser

Director of National Guard PAs Jamie Rigoni [email protected] As the current National Guard Director, I make myself available to any Army National Guard PA who is seeking information regarding retention bonuses, career planning, retirement planning, or other issues that they feel SAPA may be able to help address. These are the usual topics for discussion at the National Guard break out session at the SAPA Refresher Course. The biggest challenge for me as the National Guard Director is to attempt to encourage increased membership in SAPA of our Army National Guard PA’s. I appreciate your support of me in this position over the past several years, and if re-elected I will continue to assist in helping make SAPA be a current and relevant resource for today’s Army Physician Assistant. Jamie Rigoni Director of Reserve PAs Melaine Hosker [email protected] Hello, I am Melanie Hosker. I grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health in 2011 just prior to commissioning in the USAR as a 70B. I held positions as the assistant S3 at the 399th CSH and XO for 912th FST prior to starting IPAP in January 2015. After graduating from Phase 2 of IPAP in June 2017, I have been working in an Emergency Department in New Haven, CT and I am currently the MRO for the 7238th MSU. In December 2017, I defended my Ph.D. in Epidemiology, partnered with the Unites States Army Research Institute for Environmental Medicine. I had the opportunity to participate in the poster contest at the 2018 Society of Army Physician Assistants refresher course alongside other amazing PA researchers!

I am interested in running for the Director of Reserve Affairs Position with SAPA with the hopes strengthening networking within the USAR as well as with active duty and guard components. I have been fortunate to meet many motivated soldiers, among all components, that have opened my eyes to new experiences and opportunities along my journey. I believe this role will strengthen those connections and allow me to pass on lessons learned to our USAR 65D team (just under 300 strong). Many active component representatives have asked me personally what problems are unique to USAR 65Ds and have asked me how they can help us. We all recognize that reservists are in a unique position where we often wear many hats. We work long shifts, drive or fly hours to report for drill, and complete taskings on our own time between battle assemblies in order to accomplish the mission. We are stronger as a team and I look forward to the chance to be a voice that team information and concerns can be channeled through.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. Very Respectfully, Melanie Hosker, PhD, MPAS, PA-C CPT, USAR

Director of Retired PAs Scott Fisher [email protected] As your immediate past president, it is my honor to now be in the position to run for the SAPA Retiree Director position. As I hang up my uniform for the last time after more than 25 years, I wish to continue to serve both SAPA and the over 40 years of PAs that have built our Army PA profession. Together with your board of directors, I will ensure SAPA supports those in active, reserve, national guard and retiree status. Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve. Scott D. Fisher, DSc-EM, PA-C, CPAAPA Director of Federal PAs (two nominations, vote for one) A. Irwin Fish [email protected] My name is Irwin Warren Fish and I have been a member of the Society of Army Physician Assistants for over 20 years I have served in the US Army as a medical service officer and as an enlisted medic I currently serve with United States Public Health Service Federal Bureau of Prisons. I have served SAPA as its conference assistant coordinator conference Hall moderator, guest speaker, auctioneer, audio-visual coordinator. I've seen this organization grow and I seen this organization have its falters I feel I bring to the Society a great deal of background information and I feel I have the potential to assist us in returning to the great organization that we were in the past and make us even better in the future. As we work in this day and age in a purple environment, I feel the Society of Army Physician Assistants needs to go closer and closer to being purple remembering though always our army roots B. Patricia (Trish) Lucas [email protected] My goal is to be able to share experiences from other services to help grow SAPA. As s former USAF PA for 18 years, I have experience working on their BOD. Now retired, I work for the Army and would like to be able to grow the SAPA membership with the younger generation. As an instructor at IPAP (the military training program at Ft Sam), the students from all branches can be introduced to their service specific organization which represents them and fights their fights and I can be a conduit for all the services, not just the Army.

Director of Civilian PAs Karen Reedy [email protected] I have been a member of SAPA since 1996, the first year I attended the conference as an Associate member, since I have no military service. I retired from the VA in 2010 to enter private practice, and I am currently practicing Urgent Care in York, PA. I have attended every SAPA conference since then except for missing the last 2 years. As an associate member over the years, have seen significant changes in SAPA as an organization. The current trend of decreasing membership & attendance at the conference are quite concerning. I realize that there are certainly extenuating circumstances that prevent many active duty PA's from attending the conference due to deployments. So, that leaves it up to us, Civilian, Federal Services, Affiliate, & Associate members to step up to the plate to help bolster the membership & participation in this great organization that supports & lobbies for our Army PA's. I challenge every member to recruit 1 NEW MEMBER for SAPA. If they qualify for Civilian or Federal Service membership that would further increase the numbers of members SAPA carries with the AAPA & potentially increase the number of votes in the House of Delegates for the AAPA. Talk up our conference, it's still the cheapest CME conference out there for the # of credits; combined with a recertification portion of those CME's, SAPA offers more bang for the buck than ever. It's up to us, the members, to come together and help this wonderful organization continue it's mission to support our active duty brothers & sisters. I feel that serving as YOUR representative on the Board of Directors I can help achieve this goal. Karen Reedy MPAS PA-C
