o Three distinct roles

• Business process SME

• Personas developer/expert

• Designer

Some of this may be missing, not sufficiently available, not given

enough attention or emphasis.

o Readily available basis / system support to address any

technical problem

o Project lead

Common mistakes

o Installation errors / issues causing delay or disruption

o Unrealistic timeline (too tight deadline)

o Underestimation of effort (development as well as testing)

o Insufficient business involvement (key players, planning, testing)

o Missed business process details / requirements during design cause iterative

rework or significant change during implementation

o Not always clear communication of what is planned, for what area and how soon

causing anxiety and disappointment among departments

o A Personas solution is not for everyone, but for a majority of users. Don’t say

‘yes’ to every request

o Project timeline clashes with system maintenance / upgrades

o No dedicated project management / SME team for just the Personas project

Frequent use cases and recurring problems

o Sales documents (VA01/02/03), Purchasing (ME*

transactions: PO, Requisition, Contract), HCM (PA*

transactions), Manufacturing, Plant Maintenance, Material

Master.

This means more Personas-related expertise in these areas

o Tab caching & merging in 2.0 + required fields

o Enjoy controls (better in 3.0 but still can be a problem)

o Issues caused by too complex scripts

Getting effective support from SAP

o Understandable, clear and thorough problem description

o Reproducible error situation with sufficient dataPreferably a step-by-step document with screen shots

demonstrating the issue

o Necessary connection provided and kept available

No user access or authorization issues, both GUI and HTTP or

WTS connection
