Release Briefing by GP Strategies

MDF Objects Available for Compensation, Variable Pay, and Total Compensation Plan Worksheets
GP Strategies: More data can now be mapped from Employee Central; Use effective
dated MDF data instead of compensation lookup tables
CMP-9495
What is it?• You can now use Metadata Framework (MDF)
custom objects in your compensation, variable pay, and Total Compensation Plan worksheets.
• The EC Field list now contains both MDF custom objects and Employee Central HRIS elements. An example MDF object is highlighted in the following image.
Why is it important?• Customers have asked to more fully leverage
their MDF objects by integrating them within compensation templates.
• Use MDF objects instead of Compensation Lookup tables (MDF data is effective dated)
H1-2020
9Admin Opt-InConfiguration Type:
Expanded Flexibility in Total Compensation PlansH1-2020
GP Strategies: Enhanced admin user experience and continued effort to make Total Compensation Template the default
CMP-18766
What is it? • When you create total compensation
plans by copying existing templates, you now have the option to create a plan by selecting an existing Compensation template without also selecting a Variable Pay plan template.
Why is it important? Not all customers use Variable Pay as part of their company's compensation framework, and they want the ability to create total compensation plans with a compensation plan template only.
10UniversalConfiguration Type:
Enhanced Display Criteria for Bulk Download Icon
GP Strategies: User experience is improved with this
enhancement
CMP-21414
What is it? • You can now view the icon for bulk download only if
you generate a statement for a group of employees from the recently filtered list of Executive Review.
• The visibility of the icon has been enhanced to increase usability and improve user experience with the bulk download option.
Configuration Requirements• You must have the Display Bulk Print Statement Icon
on Executive Review Page option enabled at company level.
H1-2020
11UniversalConfiguration Type:
View a List of Employees Excluded from Statement Download
GP Strategies: If using filters when bulk downloading, you can now easily identify employees who
haven’t had a statement downloaded
VRP-9340
What is it? • Using log files, you can now identify employees who
are excluded during the bulk download process from Executive Review. These logs files are made available for both compensation and variable pay statements.
• The log file that is generated records username and user ID of all excluded employees.
Why is it important?By using log files, users now have a list of all excluded employees along with their details.
H1-2020
12UniversalConfiguration Type:
Save Confirmation Messages on Budget Assignment Page
What is it? • When you save information on the Budget
Assignment page, the system displays a message confirming that the action was successful
Why is it important?Customers requested a visual confirmation that budget assignment information had been saved
CMP-20885
GP Strategies: Enhanced user experience
H1-2020
13UniversalConfiguration Type:
Import and Export non-EC Eligibility Rules
GP Strategies: Enhanced admin user experience; better support for carrying configuration from
Instance A to Instance B
CMP-21168
What is it? • You can now import and export non-EC eligibility rules
to and from your Compensation, Variable Pay, and Total Compensation Plan templates.
• The Eligibility page of each plan now has Import and Export keys to enable you to export eligibility rules from one plan and import them into another plan. When you select Export, the system creates a CSV file, which you can then import into other plans.
• You can also modify the exported CSV file if you want to keep some eligibility rules as is, but change some of them.
Why is it important?Customers wanted to be able to export and import eligibility rules to save time.
H1-2020
14Admin Opt-InConfiguration Type:
Hierarchy and Date Validations for Check Tool
GP Strategies: Additional checks included in Check Tool
CMP-17967
What is it? • Check Tool now has two additional validations it can execute: One
that reviews the Manager ID of each head of hierarchy in the compensation plan, and a second that ensures that you've formatted all date fields within UDF dates correctly.
• The template configuration check — CompCheckTemplateData —has also been corrected to allow PM Form IDs with values of 0 (zero) or less than zero. For compensation planning, you must set Manager ID to NO_MANAGER for each head of the hierarchy with hierarchy types 1 or 3. You must leave the Manager ID blank for each head of hierarchy with types 2 or 4.
• UDF dates must be in the format: MM/DD/YYYY
Why is it important?Customers asked to be able to validate their configurations as much as possible using Check Tool.
H1-2020
15UniversalConfiguration Type:
Use Bonus Payout Summary Reports Offline
GP Strategies: Useful if you need to make high volumes of changes to entry level editable
fields
VRP-9680
What is it? • You can now modify entry-level fields, both standard and custom, in
the exported file while you’re offline from Executive Review. The modified exported file can then be reimported to update the fields with new changes.
• For fields that are configured as editable can only be modified in the exported file.
Why is it important?Using reports offline allows you to edit high volumes of bonus payoutdata of employees, and that feature parity is met with compensation worksheets.
Configuration Requirements• This feature is only available if:
• You've permissions to export and edit Executive Review data• You've the setting Offline edit access for variable pay
worksheets enabled.
H1-2020
16Admin Opt-InConfiguration Type:
Offline Edit of Total Compensation Templates
GP Strategies: Only editable fields can be edited offline and imported back into the system
CMP-21151
What is it? • In an expansion of what was previously only available for
Compensation Plan templates, you can now edit Salary and Stock tab information for Total Compensation Plan templates offline in a spreadsheet, then import your updates to Executive Review.
• This feature isn't supported in Variable Pay tabs for Total Compensation templates.
Why is it important?Customers who work with Total Compensation Plan templates asked that this Compensation Plan feature be available for them, too.
H1-2020
17UniversalConfiguration Type:
Auto-Completion of Enumerated Fields
What is it? • With this release, the system filters the full list of any
enumerated (enum) fields as you enter characters into the enum field.
• This auto-complete feature is only available for Salary and Stock tabs in Compensation and Total Compensation Plan templates.
• Filtering unwanted options makes it easier for planners to choose appropriate values.
Why is it important? In the previous version, the system attempted to determine what specific value you wanted as you entered characters, but the full list of potential values remained visible. The system required you to scroll through the entire dropdown list on the worksheet to find the choice you wanted. GP Strategies: Enhanced user
experience
CMP-21155
H1-2020
18UniversalConfiguration Type:
Publish by User for Variable Pay and Total Compensation Plan Templates
GP Strategies: Enhanced publishing options for Var Pay
and Total Comp (already in Comp in Q4 2019)
CMP-21523
What is it? • In Variable Pay and Total Compensation Plan
templates, administrators can now publish specific employees or groups of employees to Employee Central, a feature that was introduced to compensation templates with the Q4 2019 release.
Why is it important?Administrators requested more flexibility and improved performance in the publishing process.
H1-2020

GP Strategies: Enhanced user experience
CMP-20830

as default when you launch compensation, variable pay, and total compensation plans.
• You can still change the functional currency as you could before 1H 2020.
Why is it important?• Customers wanted the ability to set the default
currency to better support their geographies and business needs.
H1-2020
UniversalConfiguration Type:

Expanded Pay Range Matching for Promoted Employees
GP Strategies: Should be considered if using promotions
on the form
CMP-21154
What is it? • You can now define a new finalAttribute field that the
system uses when calculating the final pay range.
Why is it important? This new field allows you to avoid the issue of miscalculated post-promotion pay ranges in EC-enabled compensation templates, caused when the system continues to erroneously use pre-promotion classification and pay grade information. Note that the system exhibits the same behavior in non-EC templates when using Compensation pay matrix
Final pay range should be based on post-promotion information.

RNR-3167

redemption partner: Blackhawk Networks. Note that in the Q4 2019 release, we introduced support for redemption partner XOXODAY.

UniversalConfiguration Type:

Retirement of makeCustomDataReportable Flag in Compensation and Variable Pay Templates
GP Strategies: No impact on ad-hoc and ORD reporting
CMP-21816
What is it? • With 1H 2020, you can no longer modify the
makeCustomDataReportable flag in the Compensation and Variable Pay templates. The system sets makeCustomDataReportable to False for all new templates.
• The makeCustomDataReportable flag was a legacy option predating custom reportable fields where the system stored custom field data in a separate table (COMP_EXT table) apart from other standard fields. Existing forms created from templates using the flag aren’t affected by retirement, and there’s no impact on Ad-Hoc or Online Report Designer (ORD) reporting.
Why is it important?Few customers used the makeCustomDataReportable flag. System performance improves by setting the flag to False.
H1-2020
25UniversalConfiguration Type:
Retirement of Live Analytics
GP Strategies: This feature wasn’t used very often. When going into Var Pay
forms you will go directly into the form itself.
VRP-9322
What is it? • The Live Analytics feature in Variable
Pay is no longer supported by SAP SuccessFactors.
• Due to its low adoption rate, Live Analytics in the Variable Pay administrator interface has been permanently disabled.
