Installing the Runtime Components on a Unix platform Note: A graphical environment (X) is required on the Unix system.

To install the runtime on a Unix platform.

1. The Identity Center installation kit contains installers for several Unix platforms in the location \setup folder. Copy the installer corresponding to your Unix platform to the Unix server where youwant to perform the installation. Copy the whole \setup folder or only the media.inf , setup.jar and thesetup<platform>.bin corresponding to your Unix system.

Note: Make sure to transfer the files as Binary.

2. Log in as root on the Unix system and navigate to the folder where you copied the installation files.

3. Make the setup<platform>.bin file executable.

4. Set JAVA_HOME to point to the Java Runtime Environment (recommended SAP JVM 5).

5. Run the installer setup<platform>.bin . The wizard leads you through the installation. Keep the

default values or enter values specific for your installation. The default installation path is /opt/sap/idm/identity center . You can remove the space to avoid a path containing space.

6. Make the file postinst.sh executable.

7. Run the script postinst.sh . This script creates the group sapadm, the user idmadm in this group andsets correct file permissions to this user.

Downloading the SAP Java Connector (Jco)

The SAP Java Connector is not part of the installation of the Runtime Components on Unix.

1. Download version 2.1.8 from https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000463649 .

2. Follow the installation instructions available with the download.

Upgrading the Runtime Components Note: Before you install a new version, it is important that any services (dispatchers/event agents) are stopped.

An upgrade is performed by running the installation job as described above. After the upgrade, you may be prompted to restart the server. This will be the case if any services were running while you upgraded.
