Enterprise Resource Planning Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is a business
management software—usually a suite of integrated applications—that a company can use to collect, store, manage and interpret data from many business activities, including:-
Product planning, cost and development
Manufacturing or service delivery
Marketing and sales
Inventory management
Characteristics
An integrated system that operates in real time without relying on periodic updates
A common database that supports all applications
A consistent look and feel across modules

It is not the name of software, it is the type of
software
It provides an end to end information
management solution for a company
It can be used by all departments of the company
to manage the information
Types: SAP, Oracle, Siebel, MS Dynamics,
Peoplesoft.
SAPSAP stands for “System Applications and Products” in Data Processing.
SAP is Enterprise resource planning tool
It is the largest business software company in the world and also the largest ERP solution software provider.
Origin of SAP
SAP company was founded by five former IBM employees named: Hasso Plattner, Dietmar Hopp, Claus Wellenreuther, Klaus Tschira, and Hans-Werner Hektor in 1972.

Versions of SAP SAP R/1: It is the first version launched in 1972. R
stands for real time data processing
It is 1 tier architecture (1 server- Presentation+ Application+ Database)
SAP R/2: It is 2nd version launched in 1979. It is 2 tier architecture (1server-Presnt, server 2- App + DB)
SAP R/3: It is the client/server version of the software launched in 1992. It is 3 tier architecture (1-Presnt.,2-App,3-DB)
R/3 architecture was replaced by ERP Central Component (ECC)
SAP R/3 supports all business processes, including production , sales ,distribution , Finance, & accounting ,maintenance and Human Resources

We enter a Transaction code in the command
field to go directly to a transaction or function.
Each SAP screen has a unique T-code.
A T-code may contains only letters such as
ZSTM or a combination of letters and numbers
such as ME51
SAP ERP allows you to create a new session at
any time.
we can create 6 session at a time.
