Pero, tranquilizado por el Señor, ambos responden y siguen. ¿Escucho al Señor preguntando: “¿A quién enviaré?” ¿Estoy preparado para responder, “Aquí estoy. ¡Enviame!"?

5o DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO/ 5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

MEDITACIÓN EVANGÉLICO - ENTENDIMIENTO MÁS PROFUNDO DE LA ESCRITURA Ni siquiera nos podemos imaginar el mundo sin sal y sin luz; ambos son importantes para la vida humana. La sal da sabor a la comida y la luz incrementa la visibilidad. Por esta razón, nuestro compromiso al discipulado cristiano por medio del bautismo debe de dar sabor y luz al estilo de Cristo. El discipulado siempre debe de llevar al discernimiento del cómo se relaciona la persona con Dios y con los demás. En las lecturas, especialmente el Evangelio, Jesús dice claramente que si la sal pierde su sabor no sirve para nada. Advierte claramente a sus discípulos con la siguiente catequesis: “Ustedes son la sal de la tierra. Si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿cómo se le devolverá el sabor? Ya no sirve para nada y se tira a la calle para que la pise la gente.” (Mateo 5:13). Enseguida, también dice: “Ustedes son la luz del mundo.” (Mateo 13:14). ¡Vaya compromiso el que se tiene al ser discípulo de Jesús! Ahora, la pregunta es: ¿Qué clase de sabor doy? Soy persona amargada, egoísta que donde me presento cambia el ambiente y la conversación por la negatividad que perciben los demás en mí o por el contario, soy sal y luz en la familia, trabajo y comunidad. No se debe de olvidar que Cristo es la sal y la luz para todos. “‘Parece poca cosa’ pero el Señor ‘con pocas cosas nuestras hace milagros, hace maravillas’ por lo tanto, es necesario tener esta actitud de ‘humildad’ que consiste en buscar solamente ser sal y luz.” (Papa Francisco). Pero, ojo, no se puede ser sal y luz sin relación personal con Cristo que es sal y luz en mí. VIVIR LA LITURGIA - INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA Antes de la llegada del GPS y otros avances tecnológicos, la gente confiaba en un compás para ayudarlos con las direcciones. Si se configuraba y usaba correctamente, las personas que de otra manera se perderían podían encontrar su camino. ¿Qué establece correctamente nuestro compás de Dios? Sabemos que requerimos a Dios para encontrar nuestro camino en la vida, pero necesitamos estar en una relación adecuada con Dios antes de que esto pueda suceder efectivamente. Dios ciertamente no necesita ser aplacado, pero algunas cosas lo abren a nosotros más que otras. Isaías nos da una pista el día de hoy. Comparte tu pan con los hambrientos...viste a los desnudos...elimina la opresión, las falsas acusaciones y los discursos maliciosos...satisface a los afligidos. Cuando hagamos esto, no solo estaremos en el rumbo apropiado y en una relación correcta con Dios, sino que seremos la sal y la luz que Jesús nos pide que seamos. PREGUNTAS DE LA SEMANA - INVITAMOS A TODOS LOS PARROQUIANOS A REFLEXIONAR Y RESPONDER Primera Lectura El profeta Isaías habló del deseo de Dios de que nos cuidemos los unos a los otros, especialmente a los más vulnerables: los hambrientos, los desamparados y los afligidos. ¿Con qué frecuencia cuidas de los necesitados? Segunda Lectura Al principio de su primera carta a los cristianos en Corinto, Pablo habla de la tensión entre la sabiduría humana y el poder de Dios. ¿Por qué crees que Pablo vio una trampa al confiar en la sabiduría humana? Lectura del Evangelio En su Sermón de la Montaña, Jesús enseña a los discípulos que al hacer “buenas obras” serán vistos como la “sal de la tierra” y “luz del mundo” y, por lo tanto, “den gloria a su Padre celestial”. ¿Cómo crees que esto glorifica a Dios? ©LPi

GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE What does it mean to be salt and light? If we listen carefully to Jesus’ words, we gain some direction. To be salt means to bring taste, zest, and joy to life. We are asked to liven things up a bit by allowing the joy of our faith to spill over into the lives of others. Only a sincere and deep relationship with God can freshen up humanity and set it on proper course. To be light means that our faith must translate into action so that we can be Christ for others and extend the same arm of mercy and compassion that Christ did. Our acts of piety, then, cannot be directed solely at ourselves. Prayer is never about self-benefit but must always be directed toward union with God, deepening our relationships with one another and learning how to be effective stewards of the beautiful universe God has entrusted to our care. The Master gives us wise direction in terms of how we can best become the salt and light he desires. Listen carefully to the Beatitudes. Think about the oppression and alienation that exists in our world, the violence and prejudice, the anger and the hatred, the fear and the shame. All of these things require action. The poor need food, housing, and clothes. Hatred must be replaced by love. Retaliation and violence by forgiveness. Our thoughts and speech can become more like Christ. We can change and continue to change. Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman said, “To live is to change and to be perfect is to have changed often.” But it doesn’t end with just offering the bandages needed to heal wounds. It must go deeper. We must ask ourselves what has happened that we have found ourselves in this place with these wounds and divisions. What are their causes? Together we must address these systemic problems, politically and spiritually, and face the truth. Only then will we truly be salt and light. But then again, we may not like what the light shows us. LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK Before the arrival of GPS and other technological advances, folks relied on a compass to assist them with directions. If set and used properly, people who would otherwise be lost could find their way. What properly sets our God compass? We know that we require God in order to find our way through life, but we need to be in proper relationship with God before this can effectively happen. God certainly does not need to be placated, but some things open Him up to us more than others. Isaiah gives us a clue today. Share your bread with the hungry … clothe the naked … remove oppression, false accusation, and malicious speech … satisfy the afflicted. When we do this, we will not only be on proper course and in right relationship with God, but will be the salt and light Jesus asks us to be. QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK - WE INVITE TO ALL PARISHIONERS TO REFLECT AND RESPOND TO SCRIPTURE First Reading The prophet Isaiah spoke of God’s desire for us to take care of each other, especially the most vulnerable — the hungry, homeless, and afflicted. How often do you take care of others in need? Second Reading Early in his first letter to the Christians in Corinth, Paul speaks of the tension between human wisdom and the power of God. Why do you think Paul saw a trap in relying on human wisdom? Gospel Reading In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches the disciples that in doing “good deeds” they will be seen as “salt of the earth” and “light of the world” and thereby “glorify your heavenly Father.” How do you think this glorifies God? ©LPi

Enchufado y prendido

Escritura: "Hagan brillar su luz delante de todos, para que ellos puedan ver las buenas obras de ustedes y alaben al Padre que está en el cielo" (Mateo 5:16).

Estoy seguro que conocen la canción "Esta lucecita".

Deseo que me ayuden a cantarla en esta mañana. Mientras la cantamos, voy a aguantar esta bombilla y dejaré que brille sobre usted. Me preguntó que le pasará a mi lámpara que no está brillando. (Probablemente alguien notará que no está enchufada). Oh, ese es el problema, mi luz no prendía porque su cordón no estaba pegado al enchufe eléctrico.

Tratémoslo otra vez. Bueno, me pregunto cuál será el problema ahora? Oh, sí, mi lámpara no está prendida. Tratémoslo una vez más.

La Biblia nos dice que tenemos que permitir que nuestra luz brille. Antes de que nuestra luz pueda brillar, tenemos que estar conectados y prendidos. Debemos estar conectados a la fuente del poder de Dios y tenemos que prendernos para Jesús.

Cuando invitamos a Jesús a que entre en nuestro corazón, estamos conectándonos con el poder de Dios y recibimos su poder. Cuando venimos a la iglesia a adorarle y alabarle y también a estudiar su Palabra, nos prendemos o encendemos para Jesús. Cuando nos hemos conectado y nos encendemos para él, nuestra luz brillará porque nos comportaremos de tal manera que reflejaremos que tenemos a Jesús en nuestro corazón.

Querido Padre, deseamos que nuestra luz brille. Te pedimos que nos ayudes a recordar que necesitamos estar conectados a tu poder y necesitamos encendernos para Jesús.

2020 FAMILY RETREAT

RED-C Catholic Radio is hosting its 3rd Family Retreat on March 6th and 7th at

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The theme of this year’s retreat will be:

“Living the Little Way”, and will begin Friday evening with a meal and Stations of the

Cross. Saturday will include Mass, Adoration, reflections and activities for the whole family.
