    MASS SCHEDULE AND INTENTIONS

Advent Wreath PrayerLight the fourth candle andsay:

The People that walked indarkness have seen a great

light! (Isaiah 9:1-2)God of wisdom, bless us with Marys yes as we welcomeEmmanuel into our hearts and homes.

    Amen.

On this Sunday we rejoice at the good news of the

Incarnation. Then the angel said to her, Do not

be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with

God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb andbear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will

be great and will be called Son of the Most High,

and the Lord God will give him the throne of Da-

vid his father, and he will rule over the house of

Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no

    end. (Luke 1:30-33)

Reflect:How might we be better witnesses, like the angels, to

Gods love for us in Christ?

Beware: ScamsThe FTC and the Office of the Florida Attorney Gen-eral shut down an Orlando-based scheme that tookmoney from older people by blasting them with ille-gal robocalls to push free medical alert systems. The FTC says that the company told people that thealert system was bought for them by someone theyknew. People who expressed interest were trans-ferred to a live telemarketer who falsely claimed theAmerican Heart Association, the American DiabetesAssociation, and the National Institute on Aging rec-ommended the systems. The telemarketers also saidthe $34.95 monthly monitoring fee would be chargedonlyafter the system was installed and activated, butpeople were charged immediately, regardless ofwhether the system was activated.

The Truth Behind Weight Loss Ads Claims to

watch out for include:Lose weight without diet or exercise! Getting to

a healthy weight takes work. Take a pass on any

product that promises miraculous results without

the effort. The only thing youll lose is money.

Lose weight no matter how much you eat of

your favorite foods! Beware of any product that

claims that you can eat all the high-calorie food you

want and still lose weight. Losing weight requires

sensible food choices. Filling up on healthy vegeta-

bles and fruits can make it easier to say no to fat-

tening sweets and snacks.Lose weight permanently! Never diet again!Even if youre successful in taking weight off, per-manent weight loss requires permanent lifestylechanges. Dont trust any product that promisesonce-and-for-all results without ongoing mainte-nance.
