H appy Easter! Or as most other languages prefer: Blessed Pasch—Passover! Pasqua, Pascua, Páscoa, Pâques! Israel’s Passover through the Red Sea to the Promised Land! Jesus’

Passover through the Cross to resurrection! Our catechumens’ Passover last night, and ours once upon a time, through Baptism’s waters to our family’s Eucharist! Welcome, everybody! As someone once said of the Catholic Church, “Here comes everybody!” So in this Jubilee of Mercy, we make our own Saint John Chrysostom’s Easter welcome from four-teen hundred years ago: “Let everyone enjoy this radiant feast! You who fasted from Lent’s beginning, and you who didn’t fast at all, re-joice! The table’s richly set! Come, take from it, everybody, no worries, no embarrassment! All of you, taste the banquet of faith! Enjoy the feast of forgiveness! Let no one grieve for having sinned again and again: pardon has risen from the tomb!” Happy Easter! Blessed Pasch! TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

T he Paschal Mystery is the key to our Christian faith: the dying and rising of Jesus that is the pattern of our life. In their first steps on the

road of faith, the catechumens feel the cross of glory traced over their eyes, on their lips, across their shoulders, on their ears, over their heart, and on their feet. The mystery is that even death gives way to life for those who are held in the embrace of Jesus. To-day, many new Christians arise from the wa-ters of the font. Yet the font is not the desti-nation of their journey. The goal is Pentecost, fifty days from now, and a lifetime of praise to the Father, in Christ, in the embrace of the Holy Spirit, for the sake of the world. “Neophyte,” our ancient word for newly-baptized people, means “newly-planted” in Greek. DIVINE MERCY: EASTER SUNDAY

O ur Lord also gave St. Faustina two other im-portant elements for the Divine Mercy Devo-tion: the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the

Novena to the Divine Mercy. “IN 1935 Sr. Faustina received a vision of an angel sent by God to chastise a certain city. She began to pray for mercy, but her prayers were powerless. Suddenly she saw the Holy Trinity and felt the power of Jesus’ grace within her. At the same time she found herself saying these words: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearest beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sons and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrow-ful Passion, have mercy on us and the whole world. As she continued saying this inspired prayer, the an-gel became helpless and could not carry out the de-served punishment “(Diary, 474,475). The next day Our Lord told Sr. Faustina that this prayer was to be called “the Chaplet”. Jesus made it clear that this prayer was not just for her, but for the whole world. He also attached extraordinary promises to its recita-tion: “Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. When they say this chap-let in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not just as the just Judge but as the Merciful Savior” (The Divine Mercy Message, Pgs 56-57). Jesus also told Sr. Faustina how to pray the “Chaplet”, and He also introduced the “Novena” to her: “You will recite it (Chaplet) for nine days, on the beads of the rosary, in the following manner: First of all, you will say one Our Father, and Hail Mary and the I Believe in God. Then on the Our Father beads you will say the following words: “Eternal Father, I offer You’re the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.” On the Hail Mary beads you will saythe following words,: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.”Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” (Diary, 476). “On Good Friday, 1937, Jesus requested thay Sr. Faustina make a special novena before the Feast of Mercy, from Good Friday through the following Sat-urday. He Himself, dictated the intentions for each day. By menas of a specific prayer she was to bring His Heart a different group of souls each day and thus immerse them in the ocean of His mercy, begging the Father-on the strength of Jesus’ Passion-graces for them” (The Divine Mercy Message, pg.61).

It has since become a tradition a worldwide to pray the Novena of Divine Mercy every year, from Good Friday through the Saturday Vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday. We will be praying this Novena from 3:00pm—3:30pm daily in the Church and Chapel.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE

Hace casi dos mil años María Magdalena fue muy de mañana al sepulcro de Jesús. Fue a rezar co-mo muchos hacemos ante la tumba de un ser amado. Esa maña-na ella se convertiría en apóstol de los após-toles, primera testigo de Jesús resucitado de entre los muertos. Si-glos después el testi-monio de la Magdale-na sigue siendo importante en la historia cristiana. Durante estos días en Anguiano, España, hombres y jóvenes de las viejas familias de la zona bailan y caminan con una pequeña imagen de la Magdalena. Se visten con camisas y faldones largos de muchos colores, mostrando la belleza de la diversidad hispa-na. Ellos bailan en honor de esa santa mujer de Mag-dala y lo hacen sobre andas de casi un metro de al-

tura. Ellos toman la imagen desde la iglesia de su pueblo en las montañas en el norte del país y la lle-van bailando por las calles empedradas bajando al santuario que han preparado para ella. DOMINGO DE PASCUA: LA RESURRECCIÓN DEL SEÑOR - APRIL 21, 2019

Por medio de una ora-ción específica ella debía traer a Su Corazón un gru-po diferente de almas cada día y así sumergirlos en el océano de Su misericordia, rogándole al Padre -en la fuerza de la Pasión de Jesús- gracias por ellos "(La Divina Misericordia) Mensaje, pg.61). Desde entonces, se ha convertido en una tradición mundial rezar la Novena de la Divina Misericordia todos los años, desde el Viernes Santo hasta la Vigilia del Sábado del Domingo de la Divina Miseri-cordia. Rezaremos esta Novena de 3:00 p.m. a 3:30 p.m. a diario en la Iglesia y la Capilla.

DIVINA MISERICORDIA: DOMINGO DE PASCUA

N uestro Señor también le dio a Santa Faustina otros dos elementos importantes para la Devoción de la Divina Misericordia: la Coro-

nilla de la Divina Misericordia y la Novena a la Divina Misericordia. "EN 1935 Sor Faustina recibió la visión de un ángel enviado por Dios para castigar a cierta ciudad. Ella comenzó a orar por misericordia, pero sus oraciones fueron impotentes. De repente, ella vio la Santísima Trinidad y sintió el poder de la gracia de Jesús dentro de ella. Al mismo tiempo, se encontró diciendo estas palabras: Padre Eterno, te ofrezco el Cuerpo y la Sangre, el Alma y la Divini-dad de Tu amado Hijo amado, Nuestro Señor Jesu-cristo, en expiación por nuestros hijos y los de todo el mundo; por el bien de su dolorosa pasión, ten pie-dad de nosotros y de todo el mundo. Mientras ella continuaba diciendo esta oración inspirada, el ángel se volvió impotente y no pudo llevar a cabo el mere-cido castigo "(Diario, 474,475). Al día siguiente, Nuestro Señor le dijo a Sor Faustina que esta oración se llamaría "la Coronilla". Jesús dejó en claro que esta oración no era solo para ella, sino para todo el mundo. También adjuntó promesas extraordinarias para su recitación: "Anime a las almas a que digan la Correspondencia que les he dado. Quien lo recite recibirá gran misericordia a la hora de la muerte. Cuando digan esta coronilla en presencia de los mor-ibundos, me pararé entre Mi Padre y la persona moribunda, no solo como el Juez justo, sino como el Salvador Misericordioso "(El Mensaje de la Divina Misericordia, Pgs 56-57). Jesús también le dijo a Sor Faustina cómo rezar el "Chaplet", y también le presentó la "Novena": "Lo recitarás (Chaplet) por nueve días, en las cuentas del rosario, de la siguiente manera: Primero de todos, dirás un Padre Nuestro, y Dios te salve María y Yo creo en Dios. Luego, en las cuentas de Nuestro Padre, dirás las siguientes palabras: "Padre Eterno, te ofrez-co que eres el Cuerpo y la Sangre, el Alma y la Divi-nidad de Tu amado Hijo, Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, en expiación por nuestros pecados y los de la Todo el mundo ". En las cuentas del Avemaría dirán las si-guientes palabras:" Por amor a Su dolorosa Pasión, tengan misericordia de nosotros y del mundo entero ". Dios santo, Santo Todopoderoso, Santo Inmortal, ten piedad de nosotros. y en todo el mundo ". (Diario, 476). "El Viernes Santo de 1937, Jesús le pidió a Sor Faustina que hiciera una novena especial antes de la Fiesta de la Misericordia, desde el Vier-
