Broken or torn Bumper repair. Spot weld with PLASTIX Repair with PLASTI-HAIR 1. Align both sides of the crack to assure their correct alignment. 2. Clean the area to be repaired 3. Define the bonding line or work area 4. This work area needs to be sanded along the whole length

including 3 to 5 cm on each side of the tear or crack (the extended sanding is anticipating that PLASTI-HAIR will be applied along the crack). This sanding will allow better adhesion. Blow off dust.

5. Bring the broken parts together aligning them in their place. 6. Using the small spoon included, take some “IRF” (instantaneous

reaction reinforcing fiber) and place it over a spot that will be bonded along the tear or crack. Press it into the repair area.

7. Apply the instantaneous plasticizer activator (liquid dropper bottle) over the “IRF” and let it set for 10 to 20 seconds.

8. Repeat this step on several spots along the crack until the part is secured and there is no movement along the sides of the crack.

9. Then proceed to repair the whole crack with PLASTI-HAIR.

How to repair fasteners, tabs and brackets? How to fix a screw to replace a fastener? 1. Clean the area to be repaired 2. Mark or take a good visual note of the place form where the tab

was torn to replace it in its exact place. 3. Sand the surface form where the tab was torn, carefully to not

disappear the mark of the tab´s place. Sand the contour of the tab.

4. Place the tab (or screw) in its place.

5. Fix temporarily in place the tab, fastener or screw using one drop of the liquid activator between the repair part and the base of the tab (or the head of the screw).

6. Then place some of the “IRF” (instantaneous reaction reinforcing fiber) around the base of the fastener, tab or screw.

7. Press it to level out and give shape to the plastic that is about to be formed.

8. Apply some drops of the instantaneous plasticizer activator (liquid dropper bottle) over the “IRF” and let it react.

9. Once it has reacted, sand and de-dusting. 10. Measure the width and length of this application of PLASTIX.

Add 0.5 cm to the width and length measurements and cut a patch of the self-adhesive reinforcing mesh to cover this previous application over the edges. If necessary, cut the reinforcing mesh in an irregular shape so it can complete adhere to the surface and previous reacted product.

11. Remove the reinforcing mesh from the adhesive paper and place the adhesive part down.

12. Place the reinforcing mesh over the previous applied and reacted product. The objective is to form a sandwich of layers with PLASTIX and the self-adhesive reinforcing mesh.

13. Place another layer of “IRF” around the base of the fitting over the reinforcing mesh. Apply some drops of the instantaneous plasticizer activator (liquid dropper bottle) over the “IRF” and let it set.

To begin using PLASTI-HAIR, it is recommended to prepare a small

amount of PLASTI-HAIR with its hardener to be able to first measure

curing times relative to hardener percentage and ambient

temperature.

Bumper Tear Repair

1. Using water and soap clean the area to be repaired front and

back. Let dry.

2. PLASTI-HAIR will be applied on both sides starting on the back.

3. Sand with 80 to 120 grit sandpaper to uncover the base plastic to

secure adhesion. This work area needs to be sanded along the

whole length including 1.5 to 2in. on each side of the tear or

crack. This sanding will allow better adhesion. Blow off dust.

4. Apply masking tape on the front side of the repair.

5. Knead cream hardener tube thoroughly before using.

6. Use a clean non-porous surface to mix PLASTI-HAIR and cream

hardener in a mixing ratio of 3:100 (PLASTI-HAIR: Hardener) by

weight (3:100 = 3%, use 4% when weather is cold). Mix until the

color of the hardener is no longer visible.

7. Apply mixed PLASTI-HAIR into the repair area using firm

pressure to ensure maximum adhesion and to release possible

trapped air. Spread from the repair area outwards or sideways 1.5

to 2in. to each side of the damage area making a gradual taper

leaving a bulk reinforcement behind the main repair area. This

bulk will form a reinforcement nerve once it sets.

8. On the front side, sand the surface making a “V” groove along the

repair area starting on the sides of the crack and deepen into the

center of the crack. The idea is to form a groove that opens to

about 1 to 1.5 inches wide to fit the product. Do this all the way

from the edge of the bumper to where the tear stops. Leave no

square edges in the repair area. Blow off and dry wipe.

9. Estimate the quantity of PLASTI-HAIR you will need to fill the

groove. Proceed to mix and apply PLASTI-HAIR following the

same mixing procedure as above. The idea is to be able to sand

and level the surface and still retain product in the groove.

3. Sand with 80 to 120 grit sandpaper to uncover the base fiberglass

to secure adhesion. This work area needs to be sanded along the

whole length including 1.5 to 2in. on each side of the tear or

crack. This sanding will allow better adhesion. Blow off dust.

4. Apply masking tape on the front side of the repair.

5. Knead cream hardener tube thoroughly before using.

6. Use a clean non-porous surface to mix POWER-FIBER and cream

hardener in a mixing ratio of 3:100 (POWER-FIBER: Hardener) by

weight (3:100 = 3%, use 4% when weather is cold). Mix until the

color of the hardener is no longer visible.

7. Apply mixed POWER-FIBER into the repair area using firm

pressure to ensure maximum adhesion and to release possible

trapped air.

9. Estimate the quantity of POWER-FIBER you will need to fill the

groove. Proceed to mix and apply POWER-FIBER following the

same mixing procedure as above. The idea is to be able to sand

and level the surface and still retain product in the groove.
