Hana-chan the Zashiki-warashi who settles in a house attic. She always brings fortune to the house where she settles. She is good at playing house, ohajiki (Japanese tiddlywinks), tossing beanbags and bouncing a temari ball but she doesn’t like playing outside.

Nun-jii shows himself at the raccoon dog village and his special skill is the art of transformation. Recently, he forgets many things and transforms himself incorrectly.

He loves rainy days and he hates the Teru Bozu (talisman doll having magical powers to bring nice weather and stop the rain). Somehow, it seems that his special skill of weather forecasting, saying “Rain, rain come here!” and using his geta (wooden clogs) often was right. He is now popular with young couples as the shared umbrella.

Princess of the Karasu-Tengu world. She has skills using wind and her hobby is freely air-walking in the sky.

When he was a monk in his apprenticeship in the Mononoke world, his tired eye often became bloodshot. His favorite is eye drops. Eye drops make him feel refreshed and he frequently goes to a nearby drug store to buy them.

She is so cute considering she is a cat monster, but her meow is surprisingly powerful.

Yoshinoya Karubi is a Holstein from Hokkaido. He was brought up with his mother’s milk and his great healthy body has the reputation that he can compete for first place among the twelve horary sign brothers.

Katsura Toragari is from Osaka and is a big Tigers fan. As the lone wolf, or tiger, of the twelve horary sign brothers, he used to be a depraved boy being feared as the Tiger of Naniwa (Osaka). He has been settled down now for some years and gets close to his brothers. He smiles nihilistically.

Tsukimitei Pyonraku has lovely red eyes and a pink body. He is good looking like an idol if compared with his other brothers but he doesn’t like his long buckteeth.

Sanryutei Dragon is somehow unrealistic among the twelve horary sign brothers. He is cute when he occasionally blows fire out from his mouth, but he is still unrealistic. Even when Sanryutei Dragon flashes, it doesn’t mean the probability variation was determined. (Actually, he never flashes.)

Dokumamushi Sandanju is riding on a big wave now since he is a toshi-otoko (literally a man of the year) this year (as of March 2001). Dokumamushi (poison viper) is just a name and he insists that he doesn’t have any poison. He is strongly dissatisfied that he is not one of the patterns of the probability variation.

A chestnut horse got glorious number 7 of the patterns of the probability variation. Although his face becomes like a dirty old man when he smiles, he is a handsome guy if he can keep a straight face. It seems like he buried his past that he used to be a racing horse.

Kashimiya Wool has sleepy eyes and doesn’t have any presence. He goes to cut his hair once a year and his hair dresser makes a lot of money by selling his cut hair (wool) to a sweater shop. He is an eco-friendly guy.

Asahiya Kokekokko is just literally “Eyes turn into dots,” like a cartoon. He wakes up the earliest among the twelve horary sign brothers and his brothers call him alarm clock behind his back. Nothing can stop him from waking up the earliest.

Wanfukutei Pochi has lovely sleepy eyes. Only a small number of people remember but he has a great career as a design character of pachinko games.

Tosshintei Uribou just recklessly rushes straight ahead with his motto: “Make a headlong rush!” It is unknown why he rushes but his enthusiastic and dedicated attitude is one reason why he is beloved as the youngest brother of the twelve horary sign brothers.

Mysterious hermit with cane in his hand, circled fuku (happiness) mark on his back and a black cat on his back as his trademarks. He always observes this world from his yellow cloud. He likes to delight pachinko fans by over issuing blessed talismans at his whim.

Raijintei Pikaichi’s trademark is his red body and he gives electric shocks to the twelve horary sign brothers. He rarely shows himself, probably because greater determination may be required for him to release the electric shock since he also receives it, but you’ll win once he appears.

Fuujintei Pyuta’s trademark is his green body and the bag with the kaze (wind) mark. His wind is unbelievably strong and its power easily blows two or three brothers of the twelve horary sign brothers away.

He is a robot who rarely shows his ability as a lethal weapon of the Daruma clan. Nobody knows how many Darumatei Syoukichi are in his body.

He is a boss of the Daruma clan. It seems like he has confidence in his strength and always exposes his muscular arms. He demonstrates his power with the Daruma-otoshi li-zhi, but the fact that the black iris appears in his left eye is little known.

Bebentei Nekohachi wears haori and hakama (Japanese male formal attire) and keeps on playing his shamisen (three-stringed Japanese lute) with his body and soul. He has a very simple existence but he heats up the li-zhi action with his shamisen. He is a man of modest worth.

Although he is not a member of the twelve horary sign brothers, he plays the main role by controlling the twelve horary sign brothers. He always has a koban (old Japanese oval gold coin) hanging from his neck but he probably doesn’t know the worth of this koban. As expected, his favorite is katsuobushi (dried‐bonito shavings).
