Closer Look
Description A completely yellow room One man sleeping on the floor with a
yellow blanket With hundreds of red guns and red army
men pointing the guns to him His hands are on his head in distress
Interpretation This picture shows how distressed the
everyday man was with the pressure of atomic warfare
It shows how government problems can harm everyday people very emotionally
Analysis The use of repetition with the red guns and
soldiers Also these weapons make a pattern which
frames the sleeping man Guns point to the man as the focal point
Judgment I find this to be one of Sandy’s best pictures I love the contrast of the dark red and bright
yellow I also appreciate the strong symbolism
Inspiration Sandy was always a big appreciator of all the
arts. She never did quite focus on just one field of the arts seeing that she majored in art history and film and other fields.
But soon enough Sandy began looking into photography and she eventually even taught herself the skill.
All forms of art were quite inspiring to Sandy and she was quite the appreciator of them all.
Inspiration Sandy could be inspired by anything, her
most famous picture, Radio Active Cats, was inspired to her through a dream
She does a lot of meticulous work on each scenery, some even take her 6 months to a year!
Each shoot takes one day, all clay figures are sculpted by Sandy herself
Inspiration "I think my life is completely upside down
because I dream aboutordinary life...going shopping, to the hairdresser."
- Sandy has many absurd and interesting thoughts.
She is a creative being that can find inspiration in the symbolists things around her, such as frech fries and cheese puffs
