MISSION OF THE MONTH
John Wesley in a 1778 sermon stated “Cleanliness is indeed next to Godliness”. While this is not a verse in the Bible,
it certainly has merit in certain aspects of our lives. Carol Paschal, director of Cobb Street Ministries, strives to teach
all those who seek shelter life skills as well as the vital need for Jesus in their hearts. And cleaning products head up
the list of have-to-have-all-the-time! Specifically, this month we are collecting:
1. bleach-liquid, packs, any size or brand
2. Pine Sol-lavender scented if possible
3. cleaning wipes (disposable)
Bring your items to the table outside of the Choir Room and they will be gratefully donated at the end of January.
LADIES BIBLE STUDY
“What if joy is better than you imagined?”, a question that is voiced by many in the midst of
disappointments, regrets, and difficult situations. We will be discovering how joy can be a weapon
to fight life’s greatest battles. Margaret Steinberg in “FIGHT BACK WITH JOY” will lead us to
celebrate more, regret less, and stare down your greatest fears. Join us on Tuesday mornings
beginning January 10th, 9:30am in C-18. For questions, contact Caroline Singletary.
YOUNG IN HEART
Young In Heart met December 15th with 46 members and 6 guests present. Joel Spiess was there with 75 children
from Bells Ferry Choral group. They sang beautiful Christmas songs. Our next meeting will be January 19, 2017 and
will be a Happy Birthday Party for all over 80 years old. This is a covered dish. For a reservations, call Linda Hodges
DEACONS
The Deacon Body held its final meeting for 2016 on December 18th. Officers for 2017 are Roland Smith, Deacon
Lead; David Peterson, Vice Lead; and Ray Butler, Secretary. Changes and improvements to existing ministries as well
as new deacon ministries were announced for 2017. The deacons of Sandy Plains have plans for a dynamic year in
2017 and expect to move forward like you have not seen in recent years.

LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING AND CHRISTMAS BANQUET
We exceeded the expectations for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering—$17,092! Thanks to everyone who gave
financially as well as prayed for the missionaries and this offering specifically during the Week of Prayer for Interna-
tional Missions. Mike and Kathy Weaver did an excellent job speaking at our Christmas Banquet. Thank you for your
love offering that was presented to them. Many people participated in the banquet. It was a great success and it
could not have happened without all of the volunteers who helped in so many ways. Thank you each and
every one! May God richly bless you for your service!
LEADERSHIP TEAM
As we embark on another year, we remember the past and look forward to the year ahead. We should prayerfully
consider how we will work this year to advance the Kingdom of God in our community, our state, our nation and our
world.
I pray that the Leadership Team this year will continue to seek the Lord's will in making decisions that need to be
made. Please pray for wisdom, courage, love and strength for this team. The members are Jim Caulk, Bess Clements,
Earl Gossage, Jim Hodges, David Huckeba, Betsy Moody, Cindy Moore, Al Southerland, and Vanessa Biggers. Terri
Butler and Ed England rotated off - thanks for your service for the last three years!
'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made
known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4:6,7
In His Service,
Vanessa

REGULAR STUDENT ACTIVITIES RESUME JANUARY 8th
Our regular student studies resume on Sunday, January 8th at 5:00. This program teaches Middle and High School
students to embrace the cost that comes with being a disciple of Jesus. If your student is only able to participate in
one student activity each week, our Sunday night program is where they need to be.
PARENT’S NIGHT OUT RESUMES JANUARY 28th
Our Parents Night Out program resumes on Saturday, January 28th. We need adults and students to help
provide meals and child care. Volunteers should report about 5:15. The event goes from 6:00-9:30. This is a
great opportunity to serve our community AND earn money for our summer activities.
A NEW TYPE OF SUMMER CAMP
Summer Camp for Middle and High School students will be during the week of June 11th-16th (exact dates to be
announced later). This year, we will be taking a group of students and their families up to Kentucky to visit the
Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter—which is a full scale model of Noah’s Ark. More details will be made
available in February.
