‘Head’lines (Miss Lisa Roberts, Headteacher)
Please note that, from September, we will be offering 30 hour places at Sandridge Nursery. A flyer is currently being produced in order to begin advertising this across St Albans and in
local press publications, over the next few months. With Breakfast Club starting at 7:30a.m and a more significant number of hours being on offer, an extended provision for Nursery children will be available from the start of the Autumn term. If you think you might be eligible for the funding (or know someone else who might be) please
log on to www.childcarechoices.co.uk to apply. Places for children whose parents are not eligible but who wish to pay may be available but
priority will be given to those that are. Please look out for the flyer and adverts over the next few weeks and publicise this with friends
and family. Our numbers have dropped over the last few years due to 15 hours a week no longer being adequate for working parents. Hopefully, this will ensure our Nursery is full and
numbers increase across the school.
Please can I remind you that scooters and bikes are meant to be walked in and out of the playground before and after school. Children should not be riding or scooting around the
playground at the start or end of the day. Children should also not be helping themselves to toys and equipment from the storage units in either playground or bringing their own balls in to play with. Several staff have asked children not to do this many times over the last few weeks –
and, in front of their parents – and they have simply been ignored. Thank you.
Have a good weekend

School Absence Procedure
If your child is unwell and is unable to attend school, please contact the school office with a specific reason for absence by 9am on the first day of absence and keep us regularly
informed of their progress and expected return date.
A message can be left on the school absence line (01727 850576, opt 1) at any time or an email may be sent to [email protected].
Children with diarrhoea or vomiting should stay away from school for 2 days after their symptoms have gone. For further advice on whether to keep a child away from school and
for how long, please see the NHS guidelines (linked below):

Holidays taken in term time will not be authorised. Requests for leave can only be granted in exceptional circumstances – a holiday is not considered exceptional.
World Book Day
We loved seeing all the different book characters that children and staff had dressed up as on Thursday. Our resident World Book Day photographers, Freya and Leo, did a wonderful job of
taking photos in each class, some of which you can see below.
Thank you all for your lovely book donations. We had enough for all children to take a “new” book home and to keep some for the classrooms. Thank you to Mrs Black and Mrs Murphy for
organising this again this year – it is very much appreciated!
We will be having a book fair on Thursday 24th to Friday 27th March. Books will be on display to view and buy before and after school on these dates.
Stonehenge – with a difference!
For homework this week, Year 3 were tasked with building or drawing a model of Stonehenge. We had some very creative responses with a range of different materials being used including
Lego, biscuits, jenga blocks, clay, play dough, cardboard and sugar cubes.

Rapid Fire Cricket
On Wednesday, eight children from Year 4 took part in a rapid fire cricket event at Beaumont School, along with seven other schools. When we got there, all the schools split up into three
pitches. In the first game, we were fielding first. As the six matches went on, we were improving match by match. While we were fielding, two people from the other team hit three balls off a cone each. Once the balls had been hit, the fielding team collected all the balls up
and put them back on a cone. After we had played the six matches, we all sat down to have a well-deserved rest and hear the results. Sandridge came joint second. We came back to
school happy after a fun afternoon of sport.
