From T Bar’s desk..... Although the demand for Charolais has been forefront in past decades, we are at a time when

demand severely dominates supply. Silver and buckskin calves are not only appreciated but highly

sought after by the feedlot and packing industry. For those who do not believe me, just spend a

morning at your local sale barn and see that Char-cross calves demand top price and outweigh their

competition considerably across the scale. I call it “Charo-nomics” - using Charolais bulls nets the

biggest cheque in the fall. The Sandan event is one of the few production sales this fall. Although there are several

consignment sales, only in a production sale can one select from a true breeding program...a

program designed to fulfill the needs of a very large following of commercial customers. (Sandan

has hosted one of the successful bull sales each spring.) The problem in the Charolais industry lies

in supply. BSE has taken its toll on the seed stock industry in all breeds and the Charolais breed was

not immune....because the demand for Charolais bulls each spring is brisk, breeders are reluctant

to sell breeding females. The phenomenon in the Charolais industry lies in investment price

recovery, as in many cases, the first bull calf can virtually pay for his mother. Charolais is a breed

of low risk with high reward. The sale offering comes to you from the heart of the herd. George and Ursula are in the

stage of life that they are always on the go...when you have teenagers, puppies and livestock,

there is no shortage of things happening. Ursula is a believer in using walking bulls to

maintain uniformity in the calf drop and the bull pen. Having two breeding seasons

(spring and fall) allows Sandan to use a larger battery of bulls to achieve success but with

two calving seasons, George and Ursula do not have the time or man power to fuss with

big teated, bad uddered cows or females with bad temperament. They raise real cattle

for people who would like to make a living and a profit in the beef cattle industry.

More and more, the Charolais cow is becoming valuable property and what a

great way for juniors or 4-H youngsters to learn about livestock and invest in their

future. The lineup of heifer calves in this sale are so suited. The bred females in the

sale carry early services in order for purchasers to see their return in investment

very shortly. This sale is designed to be a win-win scenario for all involved.

Friends and fellow breeders, this is your special invitation to be with

us on Saturday, December 8, 2012 for our bi-annual female sale.

The offering showcases a group of young working females and a cross

section of the breeding program at Sandan. The females are selected from

various cow families and are bred in the same manner as if they were to

stay in the herd. Since our sale is held every second year, it allows us to

share some of our best females with others, while maintaining our cow

herd base to produce bulls for our commercial customers. Many of the

heifer calves are selected for those who would like to exhibit them in the

next season. These heifer calves are especially suited for the youth sector

of the industry. All the bred females are selected from cow families

with a proven record.

As you will see, we are not offering any bull calves, as they

are slated for our spring bull sale on March 16, 2013. Our policy

is that no bulls are sold prior the sale and you can be confident

you are selecting from the entire calf crop. We would like to

especially invite our neighbors and commercial customers to

see the offering, as many of the females are sisters to the bull

sale offering; be our guests for lunch and partake in a bit of

holiday hospitality.

Notes Terms and ConditionsTerms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. current exchange rates will be announced sale day. all monies are in canadian funds.

Bidding: each animal will sell to the highest bidder. no by-bidding will be permitted.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements: all announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee: sandan Farms –all cattle sell with the guarantee set out by the canadian charolais association.

Pregnancy Information: all serviceable age females have been pregnancy examined by an accredited veterinarian, giving an estimated length of gestation. This estimated gestation period shall be used only as a guideline to calving and is not a guarantee of actual service.

Certificate of Registration: each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health: all animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Liabilities: all persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar c cattle co. ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. neither does T Bar c cattle co. ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may, in exceptional cases, be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar c cattle co. ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

Rights & Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Phone, Wire, Mail Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery: we will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance: will be available sale day. we strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors: all announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.
