• 2013- San Juan High School turns 100 years old.

San Juan HigH ScHool:100 yearS of HiStory


All students will be college and/or career ready by graduation.

1915-San Juan Union High School built.



1913- School opened. Classes housed at Fair Oaks School.

1916- San Juan HS is one in the first in the state to offer agriculture classes. 1928- Agriculture Club became a Chapter in the Future Farmers of America, Home Economic Club created.



1945- Yearbook dedicated to G.I.’s

1953- Drivers Education course offered to students.

1949- First year of freshman football.

College & Career

• It is not College or Career, but rather college and career working together.

• Additional skills for college applications and resume building.

• Skills learned help students get jobs while enrolled at a college.

• Students leave school ready to responsibly contribute to a radically evolving world.

• Positions students to pursue a full range of postsecondary opportunities, including college degree and certificate programs, formal employment training, apprenticeship, or military service.



Career Technical Education (CTE) Five pathways formally established in 2007: Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Construction Technology, Media Arts, TV and Theater Production, Engineering and Design and Transportation Technology.



Career Pathway Program

• Prepares every student for success after high school with whichever path they choose to follow.

• Provides real-world skills and engages students to apply knowledge learned in a text book to real situations and projects.

• Prepares all students for success after high school.

• Engages and motivates students by connecting challenging academics to demanding career and technical education.

• Allows students to choose a context for learning that is interesting to them.

• Supports students who need help to succeed in their program by providing

supplemental instruction.



Rigorous Academics and College Preparation

• A-G Courses: Challenges students with a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum that meets the eligibility requirements for application to California’s public colleges and universities.

• AP Classes: Advanced Placement courses

• AVID: Advancement Via Individual Determination

• College-like schedule: Students are enrolled in eight classes on a rotating block schedule for each. • Mentoring: Dedicated counselors and teachers assist students with college applications, required classes and scholarships.



• 2013- Graduation held at McArthur stadium, approximately 800 students currently attend the school.
