Brianna: All in attendance should sign-in on the Attendance Sheet. If they are not an IAB member, the last page is a write-in sheet. Ask each person to introduce themselves and save Dean Hayhurst for last so he can present, and then he can leave.2

Student organizations: SDSU NSBE and SHPE confirmed attendance. SDSU PASE, City sciences, City SHPE, City NSBE, SWC sciences, SWC SHPE did not respond.

Student organization will present based on the following questions:

Briefly highlight a successful past event you did. Why was it successful? Why wasnt it successful? What have you learned from it? Who benefited from it? And why should industry representatives care?Briefly outline your plans for this upcoming Fall 2011-Spring 2012 academic year.Industry representatives obviously know all student organizations need $$$. Offer a way that your organization can earn that money through community service or some other type of volunteering.Thank them for their time and answer any questions they may have.

Students will leave AFTER they speak, by 2:00 pm, to return to wherever.5

16Current National Science Foundation (NSF) STEP grantRaga Brief overview of what current grant objectives and where we are at. Mention the summer team internship program is derived from our current NSF grant.17New National Science Foundation (NSF) STEP grantRafael Donna & Jeanette programs will be included in this grant, Summer bridge program based on residential and what Rafael is currently incorporation at City College, mentoring chain utilizing MESA Alliance student pipeline. This new grant will build upon MESA > build upon SPSD (which is our current grant) Our current grants does 3/5 of the proven strategies from CROSSROADS, see next slide. 18Expanding Underrepresented Minority Participation: America's Science and Technology Talent at the Crossroads

Rafael Many strategies for academic support and social integration apply equally to students inSTEM fields regardless of their racial or ethnic background, for underrepresented minority students these can be critical for opening doors of opportunity. Brianna: Highlight our main SDMA joint events from the calendar and ask each host director to Explain what the event is, typically when it is, typically how many students involved, typically how industry would volunteer:Walk on Water in October (Raga), Shadow Day in November (Angeline): Typically have 80-100 shadow spots at companies, but due to increased acceptance of students in MESA programs as required by NSF grant, we will need more than 100 spots if going to match all students wanting to shadow an engineer or scientist.Leadership Summit in February (Rafael), MESA Days competitions in February+ (Brianna can you explain what industry volunteers do?), Olympics & Robotics Competition in April (Rafael), Summer Team Internship in summer (Angeline). 20SDMA Summary Report for 2010-2011
