    This camcorder is designed exclusively or use with the high-capacity built-in memory (16GB (SMX-K44only), (32GB (SMX-K45 only)) and an external memory card.

    This camcorder records video in H.264/AVC (MPEG4 part 10/Advanced Video Coding) ormat compliantwith the Standard resolution (SD-VIDEO) ormat.Please note that this camcorder is not compatible with other digital video ormats.Be ore recording important video, make a trial recording.- Play back your trial recording to make sure the video and audio have been recorded properly.The recorded contents cannot be compensated or:- Samsung cannot compensate or any damages caused when recording is not made normally or recorded

    sharp object.- I you push the LCD sur ace, display unevenness may occur. I unevenness does not disappear, turn the

    camcorder o , wait or a ew moments, and then turn it on again.- Do not place the camcorder with the open LCD screen down.- Close the LCD monitor when not using the camcorder.Liquid crystal display:- The LCD screen is a product o high precision technology. Out o the total pixels (approx. 230,000 pixels o an

    LCD monitor ), 0.01% or less pixels may be out (black dots) or may remain lit as colored dots (red, blue, andgreen). This shows the limitations o the current technology, and does not indicate a ault that will inter ere withrecording.

    CONNECTING A POWER SOURCE Be sure to charge the battery pack be ore you start using your camcorder.Use the IA-BH130LB battery pack only.

    Using the USB cable Connect the USB cable to the camcorder properlyand connect the other end to a USB port o a PC.

    Charging the battery pack at low temperature may take longer or ailto ully charge (green indicator will not turn on).Please make sure that there are no oreign substances in the plug andsocket when you connect the AC power supply to the camcorder.

    Fully charge the battery pack be ore use.When using the AC power supply, place it close to the wall outlet.I you experience a mal unction while using the camcorder, separate theAC power supply immediately rom the wall outlet.Do not use the AC power supply in a tight space, such as between urnishings.

    When recording indoors with an available wall outlet, it is convenient to use the AC power supply instead o thebattery pack.It is recommended to charge the battery pack in a place with ambient temperature o 50F~86F (10C ~ 30C).When charging, i both the USB cable and AC power adaptor are connected, the AC power adaptor will override

    the USB.I the camcorder is turned on, the battery will still charge, but more charging time will be needed. It is recommendedyou to keep the camcorder turned o while charging.

    About the battery packThe benefts o the battery pack: the Battery pack is small but has a large power capacity. It should be rechargedat temperatures between 50F ~ 86F (10C ~ 30C).

    However, when it is exposed to cold temperatures (below 32F (0C)), its usage time is reduced and it may ceaseto unction. I this happens, place the battery pack in your pocket or any other warm, protected place or a shorttime, then reattach it to the camcorder.The continuous recording times in the operating instructions are measured using a ully charged battery pack at25 C (77 F). As the environmental temperature and conditions vary, the remaining battery time may di er rom theapproximate continuous recording times given in the instructions.

    Handling the battery packTo preserve battery power, keep your camcorder turned o when you are not operating it. To save battery power, you can set the "Auto Power O " unction, which turns o the camcorder i there is nooperation or 5 minutes. To disable this option, change the setting o "Auto Power O " to "O ." page 91Do not allow metallic objects to come into contact with the terminals. Make sure that the battery pack fts frmly into place. Do not drop the battery pack. Dropping the battery pack may cause damage.Be care ul to keep the battery pack out o the reach o children. It is a choking hazard i swallowed.Frequent use o the LCD screen or using the ast orward or rewind buttons wears out the battery pack aster.Remove the battery pack rom the camcorder or sa ekeeping a ter using your camcorder.

    Leaving the battery pack or an extended period o time may discharge the battery pack completely.- A battery pack which is completely discharged may not turn on the recharging LED during charging.It is designed to protect the battery pack. I the recharging LED turns on normally within 5 minutes, use thebattery pack as normal.

    Use only Samsung-approved battery packs.Do not use batteries rom other manu acturers because there is a danger o overheating, fre or explosion.Samsung is not responsible or problems occurring due to using unapproved batteries.

    Maintaining the battery pack We recommend only using the original battery pack that is available rom your Samsung retailer. When the batteryreaches the end o its li e, please contact your local dealer. The batteries have to be dealt with as chemical waste.

    Clean the terminals to remove any oreign substances be ore inserting the battery.Do not put the battery pack near any heat source (i.e. fre or heater).Do not disassemble, apply pressure to, or heat the battery pack. Do not allow the '+' and '-' terminals o the battery pack to be short-circuited.It may cause leakage, heat generation, induce overheating or fre.Do not expose the battery pack to water. The battery pack is not water resistant. When ully discharged, a battery pack damages the internal cells.The battery pack may be prone to leakage when ully discharged. Remove the battery pack rom the charger or camcorder when not in use. Even when the power is switched o ,the battery pack will still discharge i it is le t attached to the camcorder. When not using the camcorder or an extended period:It is recommended that you charge the battery pack once every 6 months, attach it to the camcorder and use it up:then remove the battery pack and store it in a cool place.

    About the battery li e Battery capacity decreases over time and through repeated use. I decreased usage time between chargesbecomes signifcant, it is probably time to replace it with a new one.Each battery's li e is governed by storage, operating and environmental conditions.

    SWITCHING TO THE POWER SAVING MODE

    The power saving mode does not work in the ollowing situations:- When the camcorder has a cable connection. (USB, AV or HDMI)- While recording, playback, or the slideshow is being operated.- When the LCD screen is opened.

    The camcorder consumes the less battery power in the power saving mode (about 50% o the power consumption

    in the standby mode) However, i you plan to use the camcorder or the maximum length o time period, it isrecommended to turn o the camcorder by pressing the Power ( ) button when not using it.

    The image may not seem smooth when a high shutter speed is setted.When recording with a shutter speed o 1/1000 or higher, make sure the sun is not directly shining into the lens.Shutter speed 1/100 seconds means the shutter box is opened or 1/100 seconds.

    Faster shutter speed is recommended or shooting a dynamic subject. Note that higher shutter speed produces darkerimage. As the shutter speed increases, the sensor accepts less light than a slower shutter speed setup.
