In 1972, L&K Lumber moved to evict eighteen squatters who had settled on land they owned, just east of Second Narrows Bridge on the north shore — the Mudflats, as the settlement was called.
This photo, taken in August 1972, accompanied a Vancouver Sun story about the evictions.
